"This is actually not our "main" lighthouse although the light does come on nights. The main lighthouse is a little further out into the lake (it's just a plain white stubby tower with a small green light). Since most marine vessels use advanced technology for navigation, most lighthouses are no longer used for that purpose."
"It’s nice historic site, but it’s hard to get there."
"The functional lighthouse at the mouth of Buffalo River. The best view of the lighthouse is from the pedestrian footpath on the Eastern bank of Buffalo River. It was just a quick detour to the north from visiting the main attraction of the Naval and Military Park. Unfortunately, the lighthouse itself is located at a coast guard station and is not easily accessible to the public. You will have to pay a small fee at the Bike Ferry near the Naval & Military Park to get to the actual lighthouse."
"very beautiful trailway view of light house could be better"
"There's a small admission fee to walk to the lighthouse. Discounts for senior citizens and veterans are available. You can get to the lighthouse by taking the Bike Ferry. It's a very short walk or ride from the ferry. You can walk up to the exterior. If you want to see the interior, you can by attending a tour. There's usually one tour each week, either Saturday or Sunday. Check their Facebook page for the schedule. This is the oldest structure still standing at its original location in Buffalo."
