"Okay--trying think of how to explain this. I have been to this park twice; the first time in late October, the second in early November. Both times, I was taken by how lovely the park was. The trails were very well-marked and easy to walk. The views were great. The park staff were friendly and helpful. Even the park bathrooms were well taken care of. So you'd think this would be an easy five-star review, right? Well, no. Because both times I was at the park, there was basically no one there. Think about it. This is a state park, a decent-sized one at that. It's not far from nearby towns, so it's not like it's out in the middle of nowhere. And yet, each time I have been there, it's been a veritable ghost town. You don't even hear that many birds. It's legitimately unsettling. So why doesn't anyone go there? Have I just been going at the wrong times? Or is this park some sort of cursed location, where no one wants to go, not for very long, and certainly not very often? I don't know. But I guess I'll give it five stars anyway, just to be on the safe side."
"My husband and I like to hike and walk trails. The trail we took was well marked and pleasant to walk on. The park is beautiful. We hope to go back."
"Be prepared for dropping acorns if you come in the fall. Bath house was cleaned regularly. Lots of shade. Sites are fairly level. Just electric at the sites. Fill up when you enter the campground."
"Only a handful of people were there, including two campers, making it a very relaxing day with most of the park to myself. Lots of birds were out including numerous woodpeckers and blue jays. The basic restrooms are open, but keep in mind it's like a basic outhouse with no doors on the stalls inside. Bring your own hand sanitizer!"
"Love this state park. If you have horses this is the place to go. The horse trails are covered in a nice thick layer of sand. The walking trails are gorgeous as well. I really enjoyed the views at the nature center. There was supposed to be a educational event planned at the nature center but it was closed, leaving many disappointed with their kids outside. All in all, it's a gorgeous park with good walking trails and campground and a really cool fire tower to climb."
