"While I haven’t taken a vehicle here in a couple of months, this is the only shop I trust with my vehicles. They have always taken care of me. If by some crazy turn of events they weren’t able to fix the issue the first time, they always do what they can to make it right. My friend and his parents have taken their cars here for years and that’s why I started bringing mine here. I have since then recommended them to my father who, while he has only taken a vehicle here once, is more than pleased with Mitch and his crew. I have even recommended them to a company I previously worked for when my company vehicle had issues and the company expressed to me how great they thought the crew working here is.I can’t recommend this place enough to anyone who wants their car worked on and repaired correctly. Update: nothing new to really say. But wanted to thank the crew for taking care of a new vehicle I acquired quickly and professionally. These guys are great. If I could give them 10 stars I would."
"Like to thank Dan for being able to get my Motorhome scheduled in a timely matter. The tech found that the fuel pump had failed. Dan communicated with me to let me know how things were going. Very impressed how clean the service area is!"
"10/10 - fair, honest and Dan was great at communicating with me. Would recommend to anyone!"
"Mitch was recommended to me by folks in the motorsports industry all over the midwest. Mitch is a super guy and his techs are the best. He fought a warranty company for a friend and got her transmission replaced. He also properly diagnosed my Corvette and repaired it properly (It runs like a scalded ape). He also diagnosed my Cadillac STS and gave me excellent advice. This guy is great. His shop is amazing. Honest, talented, clean. Amazingly professional. Is he the cheapest? No.... Does it matter? No... A great value. If Mitch Smith Automotive fixes it...it's fixed. It is amazing to have a place like this in little old Anderson Indiana... I cannot recommend him enough.."
"Not very happy with the service I received. I took my 2005 Mercedes E320 with 110,000 miles here for a tensioner Pulley and Idle pulley replacement. I was on my way home from my grandfathers funeral in Illinois when the tensioner seized up and melted off the car. I wanted to get the car as close to home as possible, and had been considering these guys for a while now to get my alignment and a few other small things done that most shops cannot do on imports. Out of convenience, I decided to eat the 400 dollar tow bill to bring it here, and avoid driving back to Illinois to pick up the car. When they received the car they recommended doing the idler pulley as well, which I agreed to, as the idler often does go out around 100,000 miles in these cars. They performed the repairs on the vehicle, and called me to come pick it up. I drove the hour trip to pick up the car, and the first thing I did was pop the hood. What I found was the serpentine belt completely shredded and wrapped around the alternator pulley. I immediately went in and grabbed Dan to come out and look at it. He was very apologetic about the situation, but had no real excuse as to why the vehicle was in this condition, and blamed it possibly being a bad belt. Best they could come up with is that they start each vehicle on the lot in the morning to defrost, and that it must have happened then due to a faulty belt. How nobody heard anything out of the ordinary is beyond me. They took the car back into the garage, removed the shredded belt, and put a new belt on. It seemed to be running ok, but I told them I would much prefer the vehicle stay overnight again and be given a thorough once over to ensure there was nothing else out of wack that would cause this problem. We came to the conclusion that I would leave the car and come back tomorrow. As we were pulling out of the lot, Dan ran out and gave us the option of them road testing the vehicle for 10 miles and then sending me on my way because "the owner did not want us to be inconvenienced by having to come back". I told them that I would be more inconvenienced if I got 10 miles down the road and threw the belt again, and would be more comfortable leaving the car for a more thorough inspection. I believe they were simply trying to avoid the vehicle taking up more of the mechanics time the next day. I was told over and over that the car would be thoroughly road tested, and that Mitch would most likely test the car himself to ensure that it was in working order. The next day, around 12 pm I got the call to come pick up the car. I asked if there was a possibility that the old belt had been mistakenly replaced on the car. I was told that was not possible as the belt was broken in two. I know this to be untrue, as I removed the belt from the engine compartment myself on the side of the road, as well as what was left of the tensioner pulley, and placed then in the passenger seat. The belt was in one piece when I removed it from the engine compartment and placed it in that seat. I believe they tried to save money by replacing my old belt, while still charging me for the new belt. When I returned the next day, the car appeared to be working properly, though I had some concerns with the idler pulley they put on as well. It has some rough spots in the grooves that I do not like the look of. I agreed to take the car, but told them if I had any issues regarding this repair, they would be hearing from me soon. As soon as I left I looked at the trip odometer on the vehicle. The trip odometer indicated that over the course of the 2 days they had the vehicle they only road tested for 15 miles. I then looked at my mpg ratings which were reading 14-15 mpg, which is indicative of the car sitting running idle. If the car had been driven after idling, the mpg should have been reading in the 20's. I'm not convinced the car was road tested after they changed the belt again. I also paid to have the alignment done, which is still not correct. Tensioner is also making a "rubbing" sound, and appears to have a slight wobble."
