"There's a lady who gives off manager vibes there that doesn't understand when to stop. The only thing I ever asked was, "Do you carry this color?" The last two times I was in there she talked me out of my original dye plan I've been using for 3 years successfully. Then the 2nd time she sold me some Strawberry Leopard products to "protect my investment". I had JUST dyed my hair. The UV protection cream bleached my color up to a terrible light blue green within 45 minutes of it being on with NO sun exposure. I know she wants to help, but she really helped ruin my hair for my 10th anniversary. Please study hair color and product before you just advise it for everyone. And maybe don't follow people around the store like they're criminals."
"Sally's has long been one of my local go-to's when I need something they carry, especially for my hair. However, my experience with them today was the first time that I have been inspired to write & post a review. I phoned the store today when I realized the process I'd originally planned to do on my hair today would have to be postponed (i.e., doing a permanent color process), because at 8 wks post-relaxer, I would benefit from a retouch more instead. I'd like something to help cover greys in the interim weeks though (until I can process a permanent color) & called the west side Sally's looking for Jazzing (a safe, even if less effective option for my needs, being semi-permanent). Turns out, they no longer carry it :(, but, the employee I spoke with there, Kila, was sooo very helpful to me! She almost certainly saved me from seriously damaging, if not completely destroying my hair, and at the very least from wasting money today. {Given that daylight savings affected our clocks today, the store was closing sooner than I'd have time to get there. I asked Kila if I could tell her my situation & get her opinion -- basically, I was considering applying the permanent option, without mixing it with the peroxide containing developer...my thought was that the color could deposit since my hair shaft would open post relaxer, before being resealed by the neutralizing and porosity controlling procedures. However, Kila informed me why this wouldn't work, and also helped me understand why I really do need the couple weeks in between before applying the permanent product. But, in wanting to help meet my needs, and understanding the relevant chemistry-related issues for my situation, etc, she asked to place me on a brief hold in order to check their inventory for any different products that could work for me. She quickly verified at least two such items, and very gracefully answered a few more questions I had regarding best order of procedures in applying these, once I acquire them tomorrow.} Basically, I very much appreciate her knowledge set, and her willingness to listen to my questions and respond succinctly but also kindly with thoughtful answers that increased my understanding of the chemical processes involved, as well as provided me with additional options and a schedule for the next few weeks to help meet my needs. Our call ended 5 minutes after the store's closing time, but I realized this on my own, as she did not the generosity of her demeanor and her apparent commitment to customer service led her to not rush me, put me off until tomorrow, or even mention that she was going a bit above and beyond. And, especially in today's retail climate, this was VERY refreshing to experience! I may not be able to get the related products in hand today, but my gratitude for her helping me avert what could have become a devastating hair-related issue -_-, my customer loyalty increased exponentially, and I hope Sally's has an employee commendation program to in some way recognize and reward her efforts :-)."
"The Manger Rachelle was amazing. My wife placed a mobile order to pick up that she never confirmed and I, with very little knowledge about any of it stood there with a "receipt" for something we didn't buy. She made sure that we hadn't been charged accidentally and then went around the store and picked my order on the spot. Super nice super helpful. Don't have a ton of beauty supplies to buy but when I do I know where I am going."
"The West Side Bloomington store has the best employees! Rebecca and another girl who is studying cosmetology, took the time to listen to my hair concerns. They even walked me through my hair care routine to identify why I was not getting the results I was looking for. They recommended a few products for me to try and ways to apply them. I have never received such great service. Highly recommend!"
"I own a small chain of beauty schools that purchase a lot from Sally's. They offer a discount for beauty schools to gain our business. I have had several, if not mostly bad experiences when it comes to check out time. My card often doesn't have the correct name it was set up with, thus causing me to give the proper info almost every single time. This finally stopped after a year, only to have the cash registers to start freezing up and tech support nor the cashier could do anything about it. This usually takes about 30-45 minutes of my time waiting with no resolve. Sometimes I just cancel the order and walk out. I have even trusted the employees to keep my credit card and ring it up and bring it to me later. This happens 90 percent of the time. I have reported this to the main office and district manager several times....yep, more wasted time and money just like now. I have heard every sad and pathetic excuse you can think of from everyone at every level. Now, when I go in the store they say I have to scan my card and the cashier has to do something different to make it give me the proper discount. This has worked two times but only if the employee is trained properly and knows to catch it. I honestly wish they would just train me. Even if the sale goes through with the proper discount the registers will freeze up. We have stopped to ring things up in small batches and run my card several times...sounds like fun huh? It's a running joke. I have stopped shopping there by 75% and only do so if I am desperate. My time is far more valuable than any discount. I am sure the loss of my immediate business is just a few peoples wages for the week, but over time I am sure it will add up and quotas and goals will not be met easily. I am so fed up that I will no longer mention Sally's name to my hundreds of students each year. I will not give them a letter stating their enrollment to get a student card from Sally's. I also know this is the same company that owns CosmoProf and therefore to hit home I will not mention this store either. I will divert all students and my business to State Beauty Supply. This is the last waste of my time with this issue. Sorry it came to this, but I feel the ball has been dropped far too many times. Best regards, Dennis Robbins"
