"My experience with Northport Medical Center was very positive until the Housekeepers misplaced my hearing aids. I have been in touch with the lost and found department. The lady was supposed to send me some paper work but I have not received it."
"They were very tentative to my every need. Listened to all of my problems and concerns. Went over multiple courses of action to solve the problems that I had occurring. Explained everything step by step and I was able to see my doctor almost everyday that I was there!!! My only problem was the constant checking in on me and the every 4-Hour blood work being drawn!!! With all of that being said I didn't get to rest I would of liked but I got the care that I deserved!!!! Thanks Dr. Sid Smith and all of the Northport Medical Center staff!!!!!"
"Just had my baby at this hospital a couple of days ago and absolutely LOVED my nurses so much! Emma, Sky, Patrice and Shaniqua were absolutely angels (along with all the other staff members who helped us during our stay) and made my experience so wonderful. We were there during a busy time and they never made me feel like just one of their many patients. They listened and answered all my questions and did everything they could to make me as comfortable as possible. By the time I was discharged I felt like I’d made new friends. My baby and I were both taken care of so well! This is my second and with my first I had a….not so pleasant experience (at a different hospital out of state). It took no time at all to see the huge difference in care here. I would absolutely recommend for L&D!"
"I was admitting after being bit by a dog and needing surgery. Dr. Pernia why by far the best doctor I could have asked for. His nurses, anesthesiologist, and nurses we wonderful. Once I was in my room I have pretty good staff members who seemed to care and actually listen except for night shift. I had to wait almost 45 minutes for a cup of water and longer than that after mentioning it in front of the doctor. I do want to say other than that, they went above and beyond."
"1. When I arrived to bring my husband in (suspecting a heart attack), the ambulance driver had Both lanes in the Emergency bay blocked while they sat there chatting & having lunch instead of pulling to one side or the other. I couldn't even get my husband to the door of the ER. (and no they were not transporting at the time. They were just sitting there.) 2. Security Officer was not even the slightest bit compassionate or helpful. She was obnoxious & just plain rude (She literally sucked her teeth & rolled her eyes) as I handed her my purse she said you can't go back there." I was made to stand OUTSIDE while my husband was being worked on. I wasn't even allowed to sit in the waiting room. Security stated "The waiting room is for patients. They'll come get you when they're done working on him" COME GET WHO? FROM WHERE? They don't know me or where I am TO FIND ME! It made ZERO SENSE. 3. A nurse came outside to talk to me & said "they're working on him right now & you can't be back there." I said "I understand that & I don't want to be back there. But Why can't I sit in the waiting room so the doctors can find me? He also stated that it was "hospital policy" for family members to stand outside. Then he proceeded to accuse me of being "aggressive & combative" for telling him the security guard was rude as hell & for simply asking him "Why can't I sit in a waiting room?".....it wasn't anywhere close to full. People in stressful situations do not need a hassle & to be treated so disrespectfully.....or accused of being aggressive & combative for simply asking a question & verbally voicing an experience that was unreasonable & clearly upsetting. Doctors & nurses took care of my husband just fine.....but if I can make it somewhere else, I'll go somewhere else. If you aren't having a heart attack when you get there, you sure will be shortly. No hospital experience should ever be this damn stressful. It's pretty sad that a local rest area (a public outhouse) has higher rating than this hospital."
