"This is the perfect splurge place in Lafayette for a fancy date night, or for a work outing (they can accommodate very large parties). Expect some high quality foods, smaller portions, and steeper prices. Just as their sign would suggest, this place specializes in beef and seafood. And they do it very well. The coconut shrimp and calamari are amazing. They have only a few non-beef/seafood options for those of us that prefer to keep our environmental impact lighter. These are also done well, but expect to lean towards the seafood and steak side if you do come here. They offer a tableside salad as a side option with most dishes. Do it! It's nothing special, but it's a little bit more of a fun way to get your salad and shave off the guilt of what you're about to do to your waistline. If you're really hungry, be sure to order an appetizer, as the main courses are modest in size."

"A local jewel in Lafayette, IN. This was our first time dining at Mountain Jacks Steakhouse. We were traveling and our hotel recommended it. We were blown away. My favorite part was the table side salad. They use a circular server with romaine lettuce in the center and all of your toppings around the side consisting of different vegetables, cheeses, mushrooms to sunflower seeds. You choose what goes on your salad. I got the house dressing which was exceptional. The main courses offer prime rib which my husband said is the best he has ever had to steaks, pork chops, chicken and fish. They did a fantastic job of handling my many food allergies. My salmon was grilled to perfection. The dessert selection was incredible. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The service was exceptional. If we lived in the area this would be our favorite restaurant!"

"So I ordered the overpriced award winning prime rib medium rare and what I got was a chunk of roast that was dry and flavourless. No marbling, no fatty areas. It did not look or taste like prime rib. This looked a plain piece of roast beef like Ryans used to serve on their buffet. I raised this with the server, which i dread having to do, who in turn sent the manager over and just he agreed that it was not med rare. That was it. I asked for the comparable steak in price to be given to me instead and they sent me a thin steak that was 1/4 thick that looked like was a steak came from the sizzler back in the day. It was a terrible experience. The manager did nothing to make my experience any better. Wont be going back. Needless to say, I don't recommend this place."

"52 years is a long time, longer in business than some of the customers are in age. You can read hundreds of other reviews about how good the food is, and see the pictures of the cozy fireplaces. I will just tell you this is the busiest I've seen a restaurant since the pandemic began, and the most engaging owners are there all the time which shows they care. The service was superb, and most of the food was good, even if they didn't get the steak done coreectly the 1st time. We'll be back."

"Excellent service. Warm easy going atmosphere. Steaks are delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. Nice selection of wines, full bar and specialty drinks for holidays. The bread is fresh crusty outside, soft and warm inside add the butter and oh man! Dessert? You have to try the signature ice cream cake, but the others are equally good. If you go on the weekend reservations are a must it gets really busy!"
