"My elderly disabled father pays for a subscription to the Geek Squad service provided through this store. He was having trouble with a piece of equipment, and he called for help. The tech on the phone asked him to go into the store at the Merrillville, IN location, where my dad purchased his Geek Squad service subscription. My disabled dad paid for a cab to get to the store (he does not drive). Upon arrival, he was told that he would need to make a separate appointment for service of his equipment even though no other customers were present, and the Geek Squad desk was not busy at all. The Geek Squad tech my dad spoke with also commented on my dad's lack of tech savvy, alleging that he should not have purchased the equipment he bought if he had such little tech intelligence. Very disgusted by and disappointed in this offensive treatment of paying customers."
"I don’t like the down payment system they have."
"I bought a 4k tv a couple yrs ago. Because, I didn’t purchase a extended warranty, they (Best Buy) would not even consider serving my tv. I was forced in a small way to purchase a new one. I’ll admit I didn’t know about OLED. And I like my new purchase. But I won’t forget this treatment"
"The employee that helped me told me I wouldnt be able to be seen without an appointment. She then took another person behind me who did not have an appointment and ignored me. Trying to milk the time to wait for somebody who had an appointment. When she realized that nobody was coming she decided to help me. She assumed that my ipad was a normal ipad and told me that I was 10 generations behind. She then started making paperwork for an ipad that I did not have, I have the ipad pro. She gave me the wrong price and was going to charge me for an ipad I did not have that was lower generation than the one that I needed serviced. Awful service. Only after did someone else come and help me out Because she was extremely hard to work with. Bottom line, make an appointment or go to another Geek Squad."
"Went to this Best Buy geek squad Merrillville to get a replacement phone through my Apple care. The geek squad guy had such a bad attitude and lied to my face. Said he couldn’t replace my phone because they didn’t have the same color. Said that’s what Apple policy is. I told him to call AppleCare so I could hear it for myself he refused. So I left the store called Apple care on my own and they said “ a different color is fine, I don’t know why he said that”. I know it’s fine, I’ve done it before at the Highland store. No problems. But the Merrillville store is horrific!! Terrible service and lots of attitude. Don’t come to work if you don’t want to be there."
