"I became aware of General Automotive through my father in-law, which spoke highly of them regarding repairs he'd had done there. When I needed work done on my air conditioner (diverters didn't work, nor compressor) I decided to use General Automotive. They corrected the issue very timely and at a reasonable price. "Originally brought in my 2007 Chevy Equinox in fall 2021 for engine overheating…they claimed the radiator and water pump needed to be replaced…about $900 of work in total. I went ahead and got the work done. Everything seemed to be fine until summer 2022, engine began overheating again, temp sensor was going off telling me to turn off AC/Engine running hot (see video). Coolant was also bubbling out of the reservoir and draining out so I would have to fill it with water before driving it anywhere. Took it back to General Automotive since I had initial radiator work done with them. This time they tell me my cooling fans and belt needed to be replaced. Another $700 down the drain. Got the work done. Not even a week later, and the issue was still there. Took it back, the owner tells me nothing was wrong with it. Issue keeps happening, took it back once more, they tell me they can’t find anything wrong with it, even though I showed him the video and explained to him exactly what was going on. Pay another $25 for a new coolant temp sensor. Issue is still not resolved. At this point I just gave up on them because I was 7 months pregnant and couldn’t keep wasting time or money into getting a proper diagnosis. After doing my own research (literally just reading a few Internet forums and watching some YouTube videos) and talking to a family friend who’s a mechanic, it turned out the real issue was the head gasket!! So all in all, I spent over $1,600 on what turned out to be mostly unnecessary work! Don’t waste your money here."
