"Good place to learn about the city's history"
"Fairly well maintained. Play set/swings only though. Did not go into available port-a-john Needs water available."
"In 1909, the historic Soldiers and Sailors Park, the oldest public park in Monroe County, was established. This cherished park holds a rich history, commemorated by American Legion Post No. 40 in Monroe through a concrete memorial adorned with a painted star, paying tribute to the local heroes who bravely served during World War I. The three-piece granite monument stands as a magnificent centerpiece, adding to the park's allure. Visitors to the park can enjoy various recreational activities, including fishing, thanks to easy access to the serene Raisin River. The playground area offers a delightful space for children to play and have fun. Furthermore, the park's picturesque riverwalk, adorned with a smooth and inviting pavement, presents an idyllic setting for leisurely strolls along the riverside, providing a serene escape from the bustle of everyday life. In addition to these impressive features, Soldiers and Sailors Park maintains its natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for relaxation and recreation amidst history and charm. Whether you seek a peaceful fishing spot, a place to bond with family on the playground, or a calming walk along the river, this park promises an enjoyable experience for all ages. Plan a visit to this gem in Monroe County, and immerse yourself in its timeless allure while paying homage to those who have served their nation."
"Read the placard, it says the important things. Nice shady relaxing spots by the river, slow pace, not populated, good fishing, horseshoe pits(need a rake), and playground for the little one."
"Simple and easy going riverside park. The riverfront walkway on both sides of the water really helps an out of towner to appreciate Monroe, Michigan."
