"My husband and I went to Ben's (our first time) for lunch yesterday. The place has a homey and authentic atmosphere. We both had the hamburger and collards for the side. The burger was better than I expected, thick, juicy, perfectly cooked and the toppings were fresh. Would order this again. The collards have a unique flavor, since they are cider braised. Collards tasted very fresh with a satisfying texture, but cider may not be something everyone will appreciate. However, you can feel the nutrition coursing through your veins. We will be back to try other items from the menu."
"Recently ordered the special "Brisket Tacos" and was blown away with the flavor! Thank you to Brook for the recommendation! She and the other wait staff are so friendly and smiling all the time when we come in and I feel like they really complete the atmosphere. Good job on the reopening!"
"I was so thrilled that Ben’s re-opened and was SO excited to go back, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit disappointed. They used to be one of my favorite BBQ places, but I was pretty underwhelmed with the new Ben’s. I got the pulled pork sandwich (my old go-to), and the smoked pork was ok.. not bad, not great, just ok. I didn’t like the new, seedless buns much… I loved the sesame seed buns they used to have in the past. Also, the sauce… the new sauce they have… is pretty bad. The sauce honestly reminded me of a cheap store-bought sauce.. the sauce was the worst part of the sandwich. After waiting *years* for Ben’s to reopen, this first trip back was such a huge letdown. I haven’t given up on Ben’s, but I’m gonna have to go the burger route next time I go."
"Came tonight for the first time and everything the table got was phenomenal and we are absolute brats about bbq because the hubs is amazing on a smoker and good friends make bbq competitively. The ribs I got were tender and flavorful; I can see why they sell out so quickly. The potato salad and collard greens were both top notch, too. No extra seasoning or pepper sauce needed which is rare. My husband got the smoked turkey and it was moist and the white sauce with it was really delicious. The mashed potatoes are made from actual potatoes not instant potatoes unlike most places and the beans were also really good. All in all we were extremely happy with our experience and will definitely be back."
"I suspect the locals are basing reviews on nostalgia. The food was bland. Potato salad was extra bland, brisket dry and flavorless. Wanted to try the ribs originally, but they were out. Also got 6 flavorless micro wings for $9, what a joke. Bread and fork pictured for scale. The establishment seemed clean, that’s the best I can do here. Likely due to the over abundance of staff hanging out at the front counter. I don’t often leave reviews, but I think what is here currently is grossly misleading."
