"I have been ordering the NY Steamer sandwich fom firehouse for years. For good reason. Its been a very good sandwich. But something has changed over the past year. Of the hundreds of pastrami/corned beef sandwiches I have eaten over the past 30+ years from all kinds of restaurants, i have NEVER had one wirh so much fat. Tonight makes 3 times in a row of me visiting firehouse and finding a minimum of 50% fat on the sandwich. Open it up and there's a small pile of normal meat w very little fat that is about 25% of the total meat and then underneath it is the bulk of the rest of meat which is long thin slices of mostly fat. Gross. I can't really blame this location bc none of the other sandwiches seem to have this problem. And the employees are always nice and do their jobs well. But the food quality has taken a nose dive in different places and it makes me think it's a top-down chain decision to save money. I may go back, but I'll probably never order this sandwich again. I also tagged the atmosphere poorly. That's bc its ALWAYS smoky inside. Not steam from the steamer. There's a thick visible haze of smoke in the restaurant every time we've gone there. Every. Time. For years... not sure why there's no ventilation for the griddle, but it's not as much fun to dine-in when you're eyes are burning like you're sitting too close to an open BBQ pit."
"They have great subs. Prices are higher than at Subway (expected, they sell a better quality product), but cheaper than Jersey Mike's (also expected...Mikes subs are actually even better than here). Service wasnt bad at all, I was waited on almost immedietly upon entry, and they were all very cheerful and friendly. My sub was really good. It was better than a Subway sub by a good margin. I'd definitely eat here again next time I want a good sandwich."
"Stopped for a quick bite. This was my first visit to a Firehouse sub location. Floor was a little dirty, but it was near closing time and staff was actively cleaning. Service was quick and staff was polite. Sandwich took a little longer than I expected, but worth the wait. The Hero had ham, turkey and roast beef. What impressed me most was the generous portion of meat on the sandwich. Bread was fresh, lettuce and pickles were crisp. Cheese was warm and melted. All and all a very good sandwich, it put the other popular sandwich shop to shame. Being a previous first responders, I appreciate the fact that they donate to first responders to help save lives. Will definitely be back to Firehouse Subs!"
"Very good sandwiches. My only complaint would be that the drink machine does not have ginger ale."
"I completely forgot how much flavor they can pack into a veggie. I ate the first half of the medium-sized sandwich without any hot sauce and enjoyed bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, tomato, but the second half was covered in Sorensen, a sweet, ketchupy, BBQ sauce, while the bread was also soaked with Cholula. When I arrived at 12:20 PM the line was 8 people deep and it took some time to get to the front but I believe the wait will be much shorter outside lunch hour. I ordered a medium veggie on wheat, was asked if I like a pickle, my sandwich "fully involved", if I want to make it a combo, if I want to round up the cost to the next full dollar for a good cause, and finally what my name is. All ordering was very smooth and the cashier didn't lose a single step when she heard my name. I was pretty satisfied and am still debating if 5 stars would be a more fitting rating."
