"Midwest Camera Repair has been the go to repair facility for our studio for a few decades now. From the days of keeping our Mamiya medium format cameras up and running, to the equipment of today, we will be trusting Midwest for reliable and quick service on our essential gear."
"This place used to be the best spot to go to for film camera repair, but not anymore! Despite their website touting experience since the 50’s they have fallen off hard! An employee said they have lack of technicians who have limited knowledge and or not familiar with popular film cameras being bought today. You would think with a massive resurgence in film and film cameras they would be back at the top of their game, but nope! It’s just “no no no no…and we are at least 13 weeks out” …sounds depressing there."
"I am so pleased with our repair. It cost me $190. The staff was very helpful in getting it set up. Just sent it in. Got completed faster than expected. Also came back within a week. Thank you Midwest Camera Repair, because now our impossible repair got our church media back on track. I tried fixing it with multiple companies. They told me it might take 1-3 months. Those companies are Nikon, Sigma, Perfect Image Repair, Dodd Repair, and Perfect Image, so thank you for your services to what others said were impossible. After an unknown hit on a trip, there was a ding on my camera and it would not focus or set the aperture. Now it's running smoothly. Thank you again."
"I sent Midwest my Sigma 120-300. They had it for two months, sent it back and it had focus issues. I returned it a second time and they had it another month, saying nothing was wrong with the lens. After I received it back I sent it to Sigma, because I’ve been using this lens every weekend for years, I know how it is supposed to perform. Sigma said the AF Data needs adjusting. Sigma sent it back in 8 days and the lens works perfect now! I wasted 3 months and $750 on Midwest! Do yourself a favor and send it to Sigma!"
"Customer Service at Midwest Camera Repair was very quick to respond to my emails both requesting a repair quote and when I inquired as to the status of my lens repair order once they had the lens. I purchased a Nikon 200mm f/2 Ai on a photography forum and discovered that it had horrendous amount of fungus growing on the elements just inside the apeture blades. I knew from reading that the fungus could be neutralized but damage left over to the coatings once performed was hit or miss. Also I knew a lens of this age (~April 1977-Feb 1982) would have zero repair parts available especially the glass elements themselves, however, I had no other alternative. I sent in the lens just after the New Year and was promptly sent an email of the lens formal receipt acknowledgement as well as an estimate for the repair time (4-5 weeks). After the quoted repair time had elapsed I called to inquire about the status and was kindly informed that the technician that works on the class/age of lens I had only worked part time and was steadily working through his queue but hadn't unfortunately gotten to mine yet but to please allow for another couple weeks. Again I know people don't want to hear that in a world of give it to me now but I am more than willing to wait a reasonable amount of time for a service provided by quality repair technicians on legacy glass where care must be taken and experience is not easily gained. After approximately 2.5 weeks later, I received a voicemail that indicated the lens was finished and was ready to ship back. I called back and provided payment information and received the lens in two days via UPS. The note left about the repair when I first opened the box didn't give me high hopes as to the outcome due to comments about coating failure on some parts of the rear elements due to the fungus but when I unwrapped the lens and inspected it I was totally blown away as to what the tech was able to fix. There was just scant traces of coating abnormalities but all else was fantastic. Also he relubed, re-aligned, checked focus, etc. I could not be happier with the repair and will definitely be using MCR again for any future lens repair needs."
