"I recently was referred by my father who is also an attorney, to take my wrongful termination case to Gold Star. I was rushed by the paralegal that answered the phone name Ashley while trying to explain different scenarios that happened to me. I explained to her that I had screenshots, videos and recordings of the retaliation, discrimination, bullying, favoritism, etc. that my former employer did to me and they decided against picking up my case. I was trying to explain to her that Amazon, particularly my old building is so scared of multiple suits (that they have already) and becoming unionized, that if you have proof of wrongdoing, they would definitely settle. They didn’t give me the time of day, which I’m so glad. I went to the EEOC and they told me I DEFINITELY had a case b/c of how much evidence I had and directed me straight to a lawyer that picked up my case. This company definitely is looking for quick wins and probably scared to take on big corporations like Amazon, but doesn’t listen. I worked along HR for 5 years, I was trying to tell them I knew what I was talking about. Their loss."
"The rudeness of Maia was awesome! She badgered a potential client better than any defense lawyer. She commendably not only didn’t understand the issue, she sided with the employer in the matter. If you are looking for someone verbally attacking you, then ask to speak with Maia, she will not disappoint!!"
"Can not say enough good about Gold Star Law! Extremely helpful thru the whole my process. I know I was not their only client at the time - But the communication through out the process was over the top, and ALWAYS made me feel like I was the only person they were work with!! Each time I called everyone I spoke to was extremely helpful, very pleasant to speak to, and didn't seem annoyed with when I called with all my questions ( and I did have a lot!). I will recommend this firm OVER and OVER again!"
"I contacted Gold Star law firm, I received two calls in which I felt that I was being put on trial. I was asked to obtain documentation. I withdrew my request and I will seek counsel through another law firm. The intake person wasn’t friendly, I felt rushed and that I had to prove my case to them before taking my case. I’m very disappointed! Two star for the two times the intake person called me back!"
"Update In response to the Gold Star’s reply: Saying that I failed to appear at a mandatory settlement conference is false. I was willing to be at the conference. My Gold Star lawyer was the one who suggested that I may not need to appear and obtained special permission from the judge so that I might call in. This bad bit of advice led to the rest of the problems. After appearing by phone, I was informed that the judge was requesting for me to meet in-person for another settlement conference. So, because Gold Star suggested I call in to the conference rather than appear, I both wasted an afternoon on the phone and still needed to fly to Michigan for an in-person settlement conference. At this point, the trial date was pushed back to “accommodate” my schedule and facilitate an in-person settlement conference. However, there was nothing accommodating about this change. The trial was moved from a time when I was on a short medical school break to a date when I had final exams. I’m willing to give Gold Star the benefit of doubt and say maybe they didn’t know the trial would be pushed back based on their suggestion of me calling in rather than appearing. That still does not excuse the rescheduling of the trial with zero input from me. Once the trial was scheduled for smack dab in the middle of my final exams, Gold Star encouraged me to settle because I was unlikely to get a court date change at that point. In summary, upon bad advice from my Gold Star lawyer I agreed to call in to the settlement conference. This caused the trial date to get pushed back from a very convenient date to an inconvenient one. ________________________________________________________________________ I had a terrible experience being represented here. My lawyer moved my trial back, to a date impossible for me to attend, without consulting me. This pressured me into settling which is exactly what a firm like this wants. They have an extremely high volume of cases from widespread advertising. This causes them to have poor communication and to place a high value on settlement. By moving my trial from a very convenient date, to an impossible one, my own lawyer sabotaged my desire to go to trial. If you have a strong case, do not go here! Gold Star is a high-volume "turn and burn" firm more interested in having their clients settle than providing true legal assistance."
