"Best wine shop not only in Eastern Market, not only in metro Detroit, not only in southeast Michigan, but all around! Cost Plus Wine Shoppe is a family run business that has been around for decades. It started out with the amazing, kind, sweet and knowledgeable Tim McCarthy who spent all his time and energy in the business to make sure that it was the best it could be. No matter who you were, if you stepped foot in Cost Plus and had a conversation with Tim you immediately became a family friend. His son Dan McCarthy was always there by his side working his bum off everyday making sure the company was the best it could be. When Tim retired, Dan took over his dad's reign and it still continues to be the best wine shop in the area. With the help of investor friends they bought and rehabbed the second and third floor which are now being used for wine tasting and events. If you're interested just contact one of the workers at the wine shop or call them. Tim's wife Sally and Dan's wife Kim absolutely cannot be left out when talking about the success of the wine shop because they have put so much into that business and work so hard to help make it what it is today. Anytime you go in there you'll most likely see Dan's wife Kim running around, working her bum off, helping someone or doing something to help make the business better. I used to work there sometimes when I was younger and for their catering business and those still are some of my best memories. Cost Plus is a true Eastern Market legend."
"This is a hidden gem at Eastern Market. We've been going for a while. Kim the owner greeted us as she always does and makes us feel welcomed. She had asked my taste in wine. She has introduced me to a wide variety of wines and is so knowledgeable. I always ask what's new. She knows the taste of various wines. I had tasted a wine after drinking coffee. She told me coffee affects the taste of wine causing the wine to taste bitter. She was right. An added perk is they have a tasting room. They also sell beer. The wines fills the shelves as the floor is organized with more wine. Don't miss out and check it out!!"
"We had a great educational experience here. A fav Pinot Noir from Cali apparently is not playing by the rules. We got a couple of different bottles and had an outstanding customer service. Very competitive prices. Support local business."
"Great selection, friendly staff, and real bargains. The family who run this place know wine and it shows. Browse around a pick out a bottle. Odds are you won't be disappointed. Or ask the down to earth staff for some advice. They'll steer you to something delicious within your budget. Friday and Saturday evenings are a nice time to shop."
