"I was originally told that the title agency would need the original Power of Attorney (a copy would not due) for recording, and "they would make sure got it back." I offered to show it to them, but I was told that "I understand the importance of your wanting to retain the Power of Attorney, however, the county requires the original recorded with the Deed at the sale of the property. you will not be able to sell the property without momentarily relinquishing the original to be recorded at the county." OK, so I turned over the POA with the promise of getting it back. I gave the title agency my mailing address many times over the course of the closing. The closing was last Dec. 31, and I still don't have the POA. I emailed the agency again with my return address and was told it would be sent out, but again I did not get it. Now I learned that they sent it to my attorney instead of me. However, that complicates matters because instead of me having an original when needed, I have to contact my attorney's office and pay fees that could have been avoided. So much for making sure "I would get it back.""
