"I have lived on the eighth- floor for years, then a couple years ago moved to the third -floor due to the ability to use the stairs - as the elevators are frequently unusable! Many times they are both out for hours or for the day! With that being said, there are many qualities about this place many seniors love: We were recently remodeled, and they are currently working on some of the problems that were remodeled incorrectly~~ It does look better! Of all the 24 CSI buildings in Mich, we are the largest. We have 244 apt.s, and now about 10 handi-cap accessible. Our location is our selling -point~ WE can walk to 2 grocery stores, a drugstore, a hardware store, Medical buildings, the Amtrak train, and so much more, including approximately 37 restaurants! IF it is location you are looking for: We are the best. We live within yards of 2 train-tracks and they run day and night and are LOUD. We are across from a Fire Station, so we hear sirens at all hours! You can get to 696 or I-75 within a few minutes, and Woodward Ave. and the Detroit Zoo are within view of our building! We are always looking for volunteers as they literally RUN this place. The rent is reasonable, and we have weekly buses to local stores. There is a long wait-list for our 2 parking lots, the city of Royal Oak offers us access to the lots across Main St. for $45.00 per month. Crossing Main St. to get to that public-lot, has proved to be dangerous, and the city has refused to post any type of light to help us, as they say the train is too close to stop traffic. Lot parking is $10 per month. We have some activities; such as card-games, and bingo, scrabble and occasional holiday gatherings in the assembly room. V. Locke"
"I have lived here for almost a year now, and I can't be happier I have met some really great people, my bathroom and kitchen is done and I love it it is a great place to live."
"I love my home! The CSI Family is there for you! Living in such an Upscale community is a "Great Benefit" to Seniors. If you are Young at heart, this is the place to BE! Urban setting & One of America's Safest Cities! Diversity & Acceptance is ROM!!"
"Moved in to the Royal Oak Manor Sept 2016, moved out in April 2019. They really do mean well, but they told me a few real lies, that had they been honest would not moved in the place. This is NOT a Co-op in the true sense of co-op. all major expensives you have no say in. No say into who will perform the work, how much will cost, but we pay for it. they rised my rent four times. Another major issue is this Bed Bugs. the building has been infestive for at lease12 years now. They have a treatment that does work at all. They claim all of Royal Oak has these Bed Bugs, and that is a Lie !"
"Elevators are always broken, one washer and dryer per floor for 20+ people. The place is a dump!"
