Flo-Mar Apartments

"Great parts: the place itself is great: wooden floors, double-door refrigerator, pretty spacious; the staffs are great: kind, friendly, communicative, and responsive. Terrible parts: I really cannot imagine there’s a place in the world that is not soundproof at all!! It’s pretty common that you walk in your home, but if you live at my place, people who live upstairs walking on the floor is like EARTHQUAKE!! Every step on the wooden floor of my upstairs neighbors is like a huge strike on the ceiling. Their steps not only hit their wooden floor ground, not only hit my ceiling, but burst my skull and mud my everyday life. I have no complaints about them, because it would be abnormal if you do not walk in your home, but I really cannot stand the soundproof of this apartment. I got no money to pay for the breaking lease fee, so I can only hide in the school library to spend my day and go back home for some sleep."

"My partner and I lived in two different Flo Mar units as students living in Ypsilanti. It can be difficult to find decent rentals and management in the area, and we felt our experience with Flo Mar was exceptional. Management is friendly and communicative, and we cannot say enough good things about the maintenance team. Any old house will naturally have minor issues, but these were always resolved promptly. Maintenance was also constantly working on our landscaping, snow removal, and making unit upgrades when possible. If you’re looking to rent in Ypsi, we recommend working with Flo Mar."

"Currently renting from Flo-mar and will under no circumstances be renewing a lease with them. We were misinformed constantly about move-in information and upon move in discovered the house had been falsely advertised. The floor plans lied about the actual dimensions of the house and the house was not cleaned what so ever. Kitchen cabinets were stuck closed because of built up dirt, both toilets didn't flush, there were shrimp shells left in the dishwasher, and other things left in extremely dirty condition. Management was not helpful at all and essentially left it up to us to clean the entire house. They are currently trying to sell the house while we are living there, which means management has invited multiple realtors to walk through our personal property several times a week. None of these plans were disclosed when we discussed moving in. Never rent from Flo-Mar, there are such better companies out there who actually want to do a good job."

"My wife and I rented an apartment at Flo-Mar's Perrin St apartments for a year until we could buy a house in the area. The apartment was very nice and considerably more affordable than similar apartments in the area. Management was always super helpful and friendly. Whenever we needed maintenance, they always came to fix our problems in less than 24 hours. I've lived at other apartment complexes owned by large corporate entities who view their tenants as nothing more than a rent check, but this never seemed to be the case with Flo-Mar. They are locally owned and operated, and they ALWAYS tried to help and ALWAYS treated us with respect. My only real complaint with these apartments is that the air conditioning units need to be modernized. They come equipped only with old wall units. The wall unit did a fine job of cooling the apartment, but it is a huge pain to turn on and off as the knobs are close to the ceiling. They do not have a thermostat and use a very uncommon 240V plug, so they are impossible to fully automate (there are no smart plugs on the market for this type of outlet). The best you can do is buy an outlet timer made for hydroponic systems (they sell them at the local weed growing stores). This is an improvement, but it still easily gets either too cold or too hot without thermostat automation. All-in-all the Perrin Street apartments are an excellent place to live and probably the best value for a 1BR apartment in Ypsi. Flo-Mar is a great company that actually cares about their residents and is constantly maintaining and improving their properties. I've been very impressed with their management and staff, who are very friendly and helpful. It is also worth mentioning that these apartments are very quiet - noise was never really an issue for us like it has been at other complexes."

You'll never have to wait long to reach someone, and the Renee, the office manager, is incredibly helpful, understanding and always reliable. She will watch out for you and pays attention to your concerns and situations. This sort of service and care for tenants is seen throughout the staff and management, and this is what sets Flo-Mar apart from the competition."
