"I worked with this agency for housing from 2022 into 2023 while stationed with the Coast Guard in Manistee. I hope this review acts as a resource for any incoming or already local Coasties looking for housing in the area. *These thoughts are all my own, and do not represent any official Coast Guard or DHS opinion or statement.* It's plain that housing in the area can be difficult, the nature of a coastal town with a seasonal population makes it difficult to find initial housing often, especially for junior Coasties with a limited housing budget. I had a very positive experience with Manistee Rental Management. During my transfer into the locality, MRM gave me clear, honest, and complete remote looks at their available properties. The contract process was appropriately thorough; I knew I was working with people who cared about giving prospective tenants a good experience, and also cared about maintaining their property. During my stay, I never struggled to contact my agents, and was given very courteous consultation about how their projects they intended to work on at my property would least impact me. Seemingly mundane things like bringing my refuse bin to the street on mornings I was on duty for days prior and away the day of collection meant a lot to me. My transfer process went very smoothly as I made my next paygrade and had to leave the area on orders. A little notice to the staff was all they needed and they began a well-paced transition with me. Details and scheduling were easy, never pressured or hasty. Manistee was a special place to be stationed, and I know a large part of my positive experience was having clean and reliable housing. I recommend any incoming service member (or anyone that prefers to work with respectful, honest, and considerate people) contact MRM to see if they have any options that can suit their needs."
