Western Oakland Transportation Authority
About the Business
The Western Oakland Transportation Authority (WOTA) is a door-to-door transportation service located at 250 West Livingston Road in Highland Charter Township, Michigan. WOTA serves senior residents aged 55 and older, as well as disabled adults aged 18 and older within their service area. All vehicles are lift-equipped to accommodate passengers with mobility issues. WOTA is funded by the Oakland County Transit Millage and offers free rides to vote in elections. The institution has recently expanded its hours of operation, added Saturday hours, and piloted a new program for transportation for anyone 18 or older for a fee. Riders must register with WOTA and can schedule rides by calling (248) 887-4979. The cost for the service is a nominal fee of $2.00 ($4.00 for Highland General Population) for all one-way rides in their service area. Punch cards can be purchased for multiple rides. WOTA will not go beyond certain boundaries to provide quality service. Board meetings are held monthly, and donations to Ride with Pride, the 501(c)3 arm of WOTA, are accepted and may be tax deductible. For more information, contact WOTA at (248) 887-4979 or email info@RideWOTA.org.
