"These historical landmarks are amazing and a must see. To be able to walk through them. With only a couple areas roped off. Because of because of items that are staged You are given a complete tour of the first floor and second floor of these houses. Please note this is no longer free. To get tickets, we had to go one block, hackley/ Hume Carriage barn. I believe you can get tickets for the firehouse and depression House next door separately, but we opted to get the full tour of the Hackley house and Hume house tour, which also included the firehouse and depression house. It was well worth the time in the cost. This was an amazing tour and well worth the time. To be able to walk through each house into each room, paintings and wood craftings of the time. To listen to the events that took place in these homes and what these families have met to the Muskegon area is amazing in itself. For the craftsmanship of these homes I would say there's no other that I've seen."
"Took the grands to the fire barn on monday 7/18. Susan was our guide. What a blessing! She had all 3 kids engaged and interested the whole.time..not an easy job! They talked about the fire barn over dinner and the campfire that night. They learned more than I thought they did!!"
"Part of the Hackley Hume Historic Site you get your ticket there. Worth a look, make sure you go upstairs to see the living quarters."
"I love going inside the Fire Barn and looking at how things used to be at the fire department. It is set up so the public can walk through it and see how the fire dept used to be set up and an upstairs displaying the living place for the firemen. It even has a public restroom. Very cool place to visit if you happen to be in Downtown Muskegon."
"Fun free Fire Museum. The kids enjoyed but there isn't a ton for them to do. Great place for a short stop and some firefighter history."
