About the Allan and Virginia McCune Nature Preserve
The Allan and Virginia McCune Nature Preserve, located in Michigan, United States, is a beautiful park and tourist attraction dominated by hardwood forest. The property also includes red pine plantations, a meadow, a creek, and a cedar swamp. Visitors can explore roughly 4 miles of trails and enjoy the spring-fed Minnehaha Creek, which flows through the preserve on its way to Crooked Lake. The preserve was generously donated to the Little Traverse Conservancy in 1984 by Allan and Virginia McCune. Additional features such as footbridges, parking areas, and trail systems have been added over the years with support from the community and in memory of loved ones. Two parking areas are available for visitors to access the preserve, with addresses provided for both the West and East parking areas. Don't forget to check out the plants and animals at the preserve using the iNaturalist guide and help document more species with iNaturalist.org and eBird.org.

Reviews of Allan and Virginia McCune Nature Preserve
"Beautiful. Peaceful. Well-marked trails. Found some friends along the way. :)"
"These trails are so well taken care of. Beautiful scenery everywhere. My Kayta and I love hiking here."
"Fantastic little hike with a great variation in terrain and range of plant communities. This most recent trip I didn’t see much in terms of wildlife, but have seen some interesting birds in the past. Very pet friendly."
"I cannot recommend McCune Nature Preserve highly enough. Absolutely stunning views! We had our COVID-friendly outdoor wedding here in late October of 2020. When I reached out to the park supervisors, they were very up front and honest with me that I couldn’t technically ‘reserve’ the space, as it was public domain. Though they gave me some great pointers and were very friendly about my off-the-wall request. And luckily – the result was gorgeous. It was freezing cold, but the setting and scenery were absolutely beautiful. The photos speak for themselves, but I wanted to personally thank the staff who helped me coordinate it, and I am grateful it all worked out. Granted it was very cold, but it was also not very busy, which is nice for a quiet stroll or afternoon in the nature preserve. Thank you again, you made our big day a million times better. "Very easy, well marked trails, varied scenery and types of forests. This is one of the best places to hike for locals. The trail has decent parking and multiple loops that allow hikers to pick and choose how far to hike without double backing. Dogs are welcome, but must run through the dog loop to poop before entering the main trail system. The entire, "full loop" is about 4.5 miles give or take."
