Doherty Hotel

"Had a great time! Awesome hosts...great Staff at the Doherty. Tracey & Dolby showed us a great time. It was nice the group all got to participate with items to assist in the paranormal hunt. Wonderful group of people. I didn't stay at the Hotel but I'm sure the rooms are nice. Food was amazing too!"

"This isn't a review of the hotel lodging but rather of the dining experience. I stopped to stretch my legs and get some dinner after a drive from 'Up North'. I have been here as a boy and remembered the food was always just what you would want. After 100 years of serving customers the Doherty still provides the freshest salad bar and tastiest entrees at an excellent value. A worthwhile choice for any traveler."

"NOT A VERY GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION! The wall behind the couch had no power what so ever, the couch smelled like old piss n wet dog, and to top it off there is black mold above the closet door and lady at front desk was rude when we checked out! And payed $180 after being told the price was $170 TOTALLY NOT WORTH $180 OR $170"

"The hotel is definitely showing its age. It's also really expensive. For the cost I would have thought they could have had a microwave and coffee pot in the room. The shelf in the fridge was rusty and the freezer wouldn't open because there was so much rust. It was disappointing that the pool closed at 10pm. I was surprised to be charged for a tablespoon of onions with the potatoes at breakfast. We've stayed here many times in the past and this may be our last time."

"When they say historic they really mean outdated and in desperate need of updates. I understand wanting to keep the history of the place and decor that suits it, but Doherty desperately needs updates and care. We stayed in their “renovated” rooms. Which quite honestly was probably renovated 30 years ago. To start, the place is a dust bowl. Seriously. Every single vent in the place was caked with dust. Every lamp shade in my room had balls of dust all over. Can’t imagine what I breathed in while staying here. The room has a heating unit which either is blazing hot or off. Had to constantly turn it on/off the whole night. Others staying here did not have heat AT ALL. My curtains wouldn’t close all the way and left about a 7 inch gap. I had to hang up a towel in order to sleep since the tall parking lot lights were shining in my room. Bed was very firm. Kind of felt like sleeping on an air mattress. There was no give. It’s convenient having a bar/restaurant if that’s what suits you. Staff was very quick, nice, and attentive. They provide 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner and bar soap. If needing anything else, plan ahead! Overall, Doherty is not my cup of tea. There’s hotels 15 minutes away in Mount pleasant about the same price and better kept. I leave this review in hopes that Doherty can make necessary improvements."
