"UPDATE: when I filed a complain, Wilson lied and lied away. I think its funny how the manager was literally there to ask him to remake the order and so was the check out person yet when they were questioned about the complaint they lied. Terrible service, liars, and totally not worth visiting here for anything. You want good Spanish groceries go to the Mercado on Portage. Avoid this place. I went in today to order food and left not realizing the food order was incorrect. I went back to speak to the guy who took our order. I told him cordially this is not what we ordered. He immediately gave us an attitude and refused to listen to us. When I tried explaining what we wanted he flat out gave us the receipt and said g9 get your refund!. Confused by his response, I walked over to the cashier and explained what happened. She was so kind and took our full order to bring to the man and explained it would cost a bit more. I was more than happy to pay the difference. She went over and he flat-out denied to make it. The cashier then said he has never done this before and recommended we speak to the manager on site Karina. Karine looked furious and went over to Wilson. He again refused to make our order. Karina and the cashier were able to refund me. However, to refuse our service when we were being respectful to him was absolutely unacceptable. I asked management for his name and she was very hesitant. I told her I was filing a complaint because there was no valid reason why he should treat us like this. She said his name was Wilson. Wilson, how dare you. We came to you to fix things and you literally passover aggressively gave us our receipt, angrily told us to get a refund, and turned your back and walked away. 0 accountability from him. I didn't even yell at him nor curse, we were literally willing to pay the difference but I have no clue why he would be allowed to just deny service because we brought the food back pointing out what was wrong."
"Great store! Large selection of grocery items, including fresh meat, frozen, refrigerated, baked good, authentic tortillas, and produce. The prices are good! Plus, they have a restaurant inside. There are a few tables to sit at. The food is so good, authentic too! Many options for a little in-store restaurant! Responsibly priced. We ordered mid-day Sunday and the food only took about 10 minutes to be ready. Today, they had street corn available. It was nice to try! I haven't found anything in the area like this store and restaurant. We haven't even found anything this good in GR! My spouse and I have always felt welcomed in this store. I am aware that authentic places like this might have a language barrier. My Spanish is quite rusty, so I am quite shy about utilizing it, and yet, we've managed to have no issues. I can always use a translation app if absolutely necessary."
"El Ranchero is legit. The food is excellent but only if you like really good authentic mexican food."
"While in the Kalamazoo area I was looking for some food near my hotel and google pointed me in the direction of El Ranchero. This is an awesome place, it’s a Hispanic grocery store aka bodega. Has food, meats and treats. You can find pretty much anything you want here from Mexico and it reminds me of my childhood growing up in California. Inside the store they also have a taqueria with bomb tacos! I’ve been back twice on my trip for drinks and snacks! I really enjoy this store!"
"Love this place! My daughter and I are always comfortable going in to the taqueria and getting the most amazing food! We enjoy the atmosphere and the food is worth the short wait for fresh preparation of authentic mexican food for a great price. We got the chorizo tacos, chicken tacos, chicken quesadilla, and creme filled churros made from a local business for our delight! Amazing! Better than I have ever had anywhere else! They go quick, and most days they are sold out by lunch. Lucky weekend score for us! #everydayistacotuesday"
