"This would be zero stars if it were an option. When giving a patient a new diagnosis and being put out that they brought a support system (4 people) first red flag. It was reiterated SEVERAL times that it “wasn’t necessary”. For who? Certainly not the patient who waited a month for results. Physical exam was bare minimum. That’s being generous. She placed her hands on the patient only after several times being told there was a specific issue. Half hearted and sub standard exam. It’s very apparent that she has a monologue that she likes to recite and gets very flustered if interrupted with pesky questions from a sick patient. She has the audacity to be rude, condescending and outright insulting. Very unprofessional to be calling a patient disparaging names when explaining a Cancer diagnosis. Her office failed at obtaining the necessary medical records prior to the appointment. She failed to go over or explain test results. Over a month was wasted while she insisted to just reiterate the same information from the initial evaluation. While the patient’s symptoms continue to progress and she offers no interim treatment for comfort or quality of life, it’s quite discouraging. Her ego was too large for the room we were in. Perhaps that’s why she was annoyed at the support system. This woman just flat out doesn’t listen unless it’s a question she has presented and that’s alarming. She was too obtuse to realize that she totally disconnected with the patient and everyone else in the room. Her role is to appear to be the smartest person in the room, while being the least prepared. Note taking was discouraged. (Are you kidding?) “I’m here to educate you”. I wonder if that form of control is because she failed to order all the tests that were planned and she doesn’t like documentation. You really need to be a better doctor to be so arrogant. It would at least be palatable if she were prepared, thorough, and accurate. This physician is none of the above. You really have to be your own advocate or have a support system. This was an absolute demonstration in why that is so important."
"I was diagnosed in 2015 with Breast Cancer. Highly invasive ductal carcinoma. I had a left side total mastectomy. Later, my plastic surgeon noticed that I had nodules in my lungs. My then oncologist, Susan Lyons , dismissed it & said that I was completely cancer-free. She lied! She Never sent me for blood work, ct-scans, Nothing!! Now I can say I should have known & I should have fired her & moved on. But, I had no idea. I had never had cancer before & she is supposed to be the Head of the Department. She just didn't care. Later in 2020, after a kidney stone procedure, we found more cancer... everywhere! Stage 4 Metastatic! Lungs, spine, top of my skull, right knee, thyroid, everywhere. It's been a nightmare. My Kidney Stone doc recommended a better oncologist & now in 2023, my nodules are stagnant & not multiplying!! It's like remission but I am dealing with all of the after effects. That 4 years of not knowing really messed with me."
"Never listens and literally does nothing every time I come for my check ups. Always in a rush."
"Can't ever forget how this doctor wrote off my Mom . Mom was a healthy 80 yr old still working 4 days a weeks and no meds or health issues . She was Admitted suddenly to the hospital . Stage four liver cancer . The doctor kept insisting it was in her bones and came from another place . After this poor woman was put through MRIs colonoscopies bone scans CAT scans and other tests there was no other cancer in her body . Because she was 80 and on Obama death row a liver transplant was out of the question even though her heart was strong she had been working the week before and healthy . She was transferred to a outpatient center where she was not even monitored by the doctor we had to transfer her as a family with her liver full of fluid back to the hospital . She was dead within six weeks of the diagnosis with no treatment given because she was 80 years old . Her body was strong enough in her mind to take a liver transplant if possible or some chemo it was not offered . The one drug that would lower her secretions from the cancer to keep her Lucid so she would understand that she was dying was denied her at Saint Angela hospice in Livonia. The family had no choice but to move her from one Center to another and then back to the hospital and then to hospice for one day . I took the day off from work and waited for the doctor in the room all day never receiving a message other than a phone call from St. John's hospice that my mom was a candidate and they wanted her . I received an apology that the attending should've come and visited with the family to advise us what was going on . Her case was totally miss handled and always a numerous amount of apologies . When my own inflammatory markers went up in my internest suggested I see this doctor I said I would rather die than ever talk to this person again . I am a realist and understand that my mom at age 80 even though active and only having cancer in the liver still would've died but how her case was handled was absolutely criminal and disgusting ."
"Dr. Lyons is my Oncologist. I was diagnosed with both breast cancer and non hodgkins lymphoma in October 2016. Dr. Lyons and her team got me through it all. Highly recommended."
