"I had really high hopes for this therapy center: they celebrate LGBTQ identities, incorporate yoga, and (from what I could tell) are rather well educated on a variety of mental wellness issues. I really enjoyed my first couple sessions & was looking forward to seeing how I could heal & grow from this partnership. However, I frequently had issues with communication & feeling like I was not being prioritized as a client. Emerson would frequently be late, leaving me to wonder if they had forgotten about our appointment. They would stop responding to my texts in the middle of trying to arrange another session or fail to ask when I wanted to meet next before sending me on my way. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this was further negatively impacting my mental health as I started to be under the impression that not even the therapist I was paying to help me wanted to see me. It also disturbed me that they would continuously keep referring to me & my behavior in a sapphic manner after I expressed I don't identify in that way at all & that even referencing certain behaviors of mine being lesbian-like made me uncomfortable. Perhaps we were just not the right fit. I feel that for other LGBTQ folks in the area, Emerson would likely be very helpful, which is why I chose to only dock one star. This is simply my experience."
