"I’m writing this on behalf of my mom who went here for therapy after a total knee replacement. I’m also writing this as a professional in the field. I’ve been a PTA for 14 years and worked in a multitude of settings and states and am astonished at what my mom told me about her experience at this clinic and if I could give zero stars I would! When she arrived for first treatment session after her eval she was taken back and put on a bike for 10 minutes while the PT would then leave her and go chat with other people. She would then return to have her do a few exercises go up and down the steps and then tell her she was all done for the day. According to my mom the PT seemed uninterested in her care never made any attempt at a conversation with her. Also the PT never once stretched or touched her knee. I’ve never in my life worked at or been to a clinic where the PT didn’t have hands on treatment with their patients! this is appalling to me! And to top it all off she was scheduled for 45 minute sessions and she said she would notice they always let her go early. So she started timing it she then tells me “it’s always 38 minutes and I thought that was weird” hmmm not to me!!! considering 38 minutes is what you need to bill 3 units!! Basically we will do the minimum to bill what we want and then let you go. If someone from management happens to read this please leave your number and you can expect a call from me!"
"Amazing place, with outstanding awesome therapists!!"
"Tl;dr - Lakeland is focused on your wallet, not your health. Do yourself a favor and shop around. Last summer I woke up with back pain that left me horizontal for a few days. As my back began to recover I was dealing with relentless pain down the back of my leg. My doctor recommended physical therapy and I got set up for an evaluation at Lakeland Rehabilition Services in Berrien Springs. I went and did the evaluation without thinking about shopping around or comparing prices, just assuming that Lakeland would give me the best care at the best price. Big mistake. I happened to come across RX Physical therapy while checking out Renaissance Athletic Club in Benton Harbor. I explained my situation and talked with them about pricing. It was near the end of the year and I knew I was no where near hitting my deductible, paying out of pocket was going to be the more affordable option, and they gave me a price. After getting the price from RX, I called Lakeland and asked what my eval had cost. I couldnt get a straight answer. I asked what my therapy would cost. Again, I couldn't get a straight answer, so I told them to cancel my appointments and that I would go to RX instead. Weeks later I received a bill from Lakeland. $343 dollars for the eval, about $238 out of pocket after insurance and $155 for a therapy session I never received, about $107 after insurance. A total of $498 for the services, $345 after insurance. A price that Lakeland was unwilling to quote me over the phone. The eval at RX was less than half as much as Lakeland. The out-of-pocket hourly rate at RX was less than my insured rate through Lakeland. RX also delivered great results and tried to do so in the least amount of sessions to save me money. The Doctors at RX focused on educating me to understand the source of my pain and how to stretch and exercise properly at home to continue on a path to relief. These days I feel 100% and with way more transparency and way less money than Lakeland could offer. If you want to see how health care is broken in America, work with Lakeland. If you want superior service and a better price, go elsewhere. I recommend RX."
