"I was directed here by my previous therapist and had high hopes. The process to get in was easy and I was quickly gotten in for an appointment. The day I was there there were no front office workers so I got there early like I was told for no reason. I was brought back almost 10 minutes late which usually isn't a big deal but I still had paperwork to get situated so the actual session didn't start until around 2o min past my appointment time I am unsure if I was billed for that time. The counselor then proceeded to focus on my weight for what felt the majority of the session. Before she even knew my history she brought up at least 3 times how I needed to go to the gym more. I felt like I was being shamed. I am overweight (NOT OBESE) and keenly aware of the fact and have been working on it successfully, but that was not my reason to go the therapy. Then at the end of the session as I was walking out she said "I am glad your dog makes you walk". WHAT? We had been on a completely separate subject before that. It felt as though it was a final jab to mock me. I walked in hopeful and walked out totally self conscious and wanting to cry. Terrible experience and I hope not all of the therapists are like that, but for me it soured the entire group."

"It's been a few years since I have been here, but I was recently thinking of Laura Slaughter who was my therapist. She literally changed my life. An amazing women that helped me find my way when I was lost. I was a bit embarrassed to leave a review in the past, as I'm private about that part of my life. But, now I only hope that this review will help someone else, as I know I was skeptical and scared, when I first started my journey to find a therapist and work on myself. So if your looking for a push, this is it. The staff here at Lakeview is amazing, and I always felt comfortable and safe with Laura."

"I am completely surprised by the other two reviews, and for that reason I had to review! I went to Lakeview twice a week for a year, and then once a week for three more years. I saw both Laura Slaughter and Barb Cain and after 8 years of other therapists who didn't 'get' me and who I didn't grow much with... I found a home at Lakeview. I walked into Laura's office lost, I was scared, I was depressed, I was traumatized and I wanted to hide from life. Four years later at my final visit (before moving out of state), I left a woman who had reconnected with herself. I was still afraid but was more brave, I was confident as a mom, I was processing my trauma and I had a support team and love behind me in Laura and Barb! These women changed my life and I will be forever grateful. I will also note, I never had any issues with insurance or billing."

"I would have given them no stars if that was an option. I was originally quoted after they ran my insurance as having a $20 copay. It was only halfway through my first visit that they told me that my insurance would not cover anything and that I was on the hook for $120 a visit. I wanted to quit right then is that is way too much money but they insisted everything will be fine and that I should continue treatment. Well spoiler alert everything was not fine. I had to pay for three sessions at full price and then they discounted future sessions to $40 a piece. that's three times to four times a week. Of course that was still too high and after a couple of sessions I left. they do not staff the front office so paying at time of service is next to impossible. You have to go through an intermediary that only works via phone. They kept sending out bills that were not only wrong but would frequently show double charges. Then they started hounding me with phone calls. If your look maybe you have anxiety or depression you would be best advised to stay away from this place. Because they are only going to make it worse!"
