"Had an absolutely awful experience with Auto Owners insurance and more specifically, the insurance adjuster assigned to my case, Kirstin. My unoccupied vehicle was hit last month by my fiances customer during a snow storm while he was there doing work on the customers house leaving the front end of my car smashed. The owner was very accommodating and actually went above and beyond to go and take my fiance to get a rental for the night so he wasn’t stuck without a car to drive home in the meantime until his insurance approved a rental. But the insurance adjuster however was so rude and gave us such a hard time about providing a rental claiming she thought my vehicle was drivable even though the auto shop told her it was not. She wanted me to drive my car until the parts were in which not only would be extremely unsafe, but would have also caused further damage. Once she finally approved the rental I was relieved. The main issue was when it came time for her to confirm the estimate for repairs that the dealership sent her. After almost a week she finally approved the estimate but then wanted me to immediately sign a release basically saying that they will pay for that amount and then are not held liable for anything after that. Which I completely understand and had no problem signing once my vehicle was completed (as the body shop advised me to saying that sometimes as they work on the car they may discover more things that need to be fixed and the estimate might change.) Which they said recently happened with another car they were working on and it added extra charges to the final amount. So If I were to sign the release before my car was finished and that happened, I would have been left paying for the rest. When I informed her that I didn’t feel comfortable prematurely signing the release until my car repairs were complete, she then threatened to cut off my rental and also insisted she was doing me a favor by providing me with one, even though that is the insurances responsibility to do so since my car was in the shop. I cannot believe how hard of a time she gave me about the rental and the time that it would take for the body shop to finish the repairs as that is completely out of my hands.. Rest assured I am just as eager to have my car back and would much rather be driving my brand new car that I actually had just bought and only had for 2 weeks before this happened, than drive the rental. But instead she made it seem like I was milking the rental and trying to get more time driving it than I need. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional and aggressive individual especially when this accident wasn’t our fault and was a huge inconvenience to us. I competely understand that accidents happen but there was no need for it to be this stressful of a process. She clearly needs to be trained in customer service or should be working in another field. **Update** I signed the release the moment I got confirmation my car was ready but that didn’t stop Kirstin from cancelling my car rental a day before my car was ready for pickup, leaving me without a vehicle during a Michigan snow storm. I’m absolutely appalled at her level of unprofessionalism and vindictiveness. Not only was she beyond rude and disrespectful to me, she was also incredibly rude to the body shop and tech working on my car even though he was incredibly polite and informative and kept us up to date through out the entire process."

"I just want to tell the world what a wonderful company Auto Owners is in all the departments they allow policies including automobile, homeowners and life insurance. I have been with them for over 20 years. They are very considerate and very easy to help you regardless with your claim. I have never claimed anything with them before but in the past year I have had to use all of my policies. They were so quick to help me get back on my feet again. They never judged me or made me feel terrible for submitting a claim. They went out of their way to help me. I am so grateful to them for their understanding in my situations. Also I’m an older woman and not very well experienced in using computer, email and text. But they helped me through every step.
