"My family and I spent time in the early 1950's at this beautiful lodge, owned at the time, by Martin Granholm. The pictures shown in these reviews show the lodge just as I remembered ."
"We recently found this place around Christmastime when we were visiting family and needed a place to stay due to COVID. We found CedarHurst and loved our stay with a small part of my family. We loved it so much that we just came up again with my wife's family (all vaccinated). CONS to know when booking: - The beds are camp beds so you will not sleep like you would in a 4 star hotel (that's not why you're staying here anyway). Couches are camp couches, so keep that in mind. - It's a rustic lodge, so there will be possible mice (we've seen a couple in our stays) etc, but you're in the woods in the UP, so nothing was unexpected. - Some things are clearly dated; the sauna included. - A bit pricey for the UP (but it's so big that you just get several families to go and split the cost). PROS to know when booking (5 star review is because the pros FAR outweigh the cons): - Lodge is right on the water; summer activities, ice fish in the winter, etc. -The lodge is gorgeous and it's easy to get lost in it's splendor. We like to set the sirius radio to 40's music, build a fire, and zone out playing cards or building puzzles after our long day outside. -Lots of trails for skiing, snowshoeing/hiking, sledding...when we stayed last weekend my wife and I went on a snowshoe date and went to find Pogy's Camp. -20-25 minute drive from Ishpeming, about 10 mins from Koski Korners (gas station with odds and ends should you need anything basic). -Some nice amenities; charcoal grill, fireplace, etc. We brought charcoal (they had some there for us) but we fired up the grill and made some steaks. Meal time is really special when a large group can all sit at the table together. I want to be clear...this 5 star review is well deserved, and the pros far outweigh the cons. It's a special stay, but a big place, so make sure you bring family or friends!"
"Awesome stay, we plan to come again! The great room is perfect for multiple families hanging out, as it's huge. This cabin is on a lake, and at the boat dock is an old school sauna where you feed firewood in the back of it. It was Fall weather, so we overheated in it, then took a plunge in the lake....exhilarating! We're not big fishermen but still caught some bass. We'll visit again when it's a different season, will be a different experience."
"Very nice amenities, clean and comfortable. Remote enough to feel like you are getting away from it all, but close enough to Ishpeming and Marquette for convenience. Three bedrooms and a loft, two bathrooms and showers, and an outhouse if you are feeling adventurous. There are books and games or wifi if the weather keeps you inside from the lake and river."
"We have been going to CedarHurst Lodge since the mid-1990's. We love it! It is a perfect haven for getting away from it all and relaxing in nature."
