"What can I say. This was an amazing experience for my family. In a nutshell, I highly recommend this place for reasons I will detail in this review. If you care to read on go for it, but if you love the rustic north woods read no further I guarantee you will love this place. First, the experience. I called pretty late in the middle of the week and left a voicemail. We’ve been a little stir crazy and needed an affordable mini vacation and thought the U P would be a great spot this time of year. I got a callback first thing the next morning, and the owner was professional and courteous going over how they work (pay with cash, it will save you $ in fees), and the very affordable rate for a cabin that would fit my 5 person family. So I booked it and we were on our way. The Room. When we arrived I found a very nice letter telling me our cabin was ready just in case we arrived late. We didn’t, and one of the owners was there to great me and give me a tour of the common areas and property. It was great, there was a large sport area near a community campfire. The cabin was expectedly small but perfect since we like to spend time outdoors more but it was so rustic and stylistic to the classic cabin motel era we just loved it. Had enough heat, a very functional kitchenette area with a hot plate, micro, coffee maker, decent sized fridge, toaster oven and some basic dining ware all in a closet sized space and arranged perfectly for functional use. There was a queen size bed in the bedroom and a sofa sleeper in the living room. We all slept well, it was a peaceful area at night, even on a Saturday, so that was definitely a plus. Amenities. Obviously in a cabin motel there isn’t a t bone steak room service option. But we were blown away by what they did have. In the main area there is a common area that can be used by guests. It was amazing. Couches, TVs, even a dry bar and a small arcade machine. We had it all to ourselves and we all had a great time just relaxing and playing some games before bedtime. Bottom line. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. If you LOVE classic north woods style and not some second floor box give them a call. We super appreciate our experience, and plan to make this a new family tradition. Kids still cannot stop talking about it. Looking forward to the changes everytime we stay, and thank you Pineaire for a great break from our hectic lives. Will see you soon! Chris"
"New owners are amazing people! The work they've put in to rehab the place is amazing. While continuing to get more cabins done they are super nice and this will be the place to stay once again! Great job guys"
"For the money, this motel is top-notch. Owner Bob has thought of almost everything when furnishing the individual cabins. Well-heated in the cold weather, and comfortable in the summer. Refrigerator, microwave, flat-screen tv, desk, table & chairs, books, extra blankets & pillows. Additionally , the motel is pet-friendly. Very nice hiking trails, one going to Moon Lake. OHV trail at property boundary, which is also the Ottawa National Forest boundary. Highly recommended ! October, 2019, 2020 July, 2022 Update Bob has sold the Pineaire to Cori and her husband, who are doing extensive remodeling. Currently, prices are only slightly higher than before, and the amenities have remained the same. As of now, I'd still highly recommend this resort. The names of the cabins have been changed from northwest Chicago suburbs, to National Parks (Zion, Yellowstone, Glacier, Yosemite, etc.)."
"Wonderful place. Very rustic, but had everything we needed. Especially liked dogs are welcome. Friendly new owners making many upgrades. Fish house to clean your daily catch and plenty of ice to keep them. U.P.s best kept secret!!"
"Love it! Bob (the owner) takes great pride in maintaining his cabins, and he’s a friendly host as well. My wife and I stayed in the Niles cabin for a couple nights during a weekend trip, and we were both extremely satisfied with the amenities. Our room only had a full size bed and a twin which made sleeping a bit snug, and in general the space could be a bit tight for some people. However, the cabin was furnished with everything one could need. The outdoor space was very nice as well. We arrived late at night and were happy to find the entire Pineaire well lit. The price can not be beat either! I would definitely recommend staying here whether you’re looking for a one night stay or an up north getaway."
