"I came to this office to see Dr. Schwarz after I began suddenly having seizures as an adult. I had no main issues other than medication choices made available to me, I was given the choice between two meds I was uncomfortable with when there are plenty of other options. I was also referred to an epilepsy specialist who later on canceled the appointment (it was made about 5 months in advance). My seizures had let up and I began getting a more appropriate med from my PCP instead. These were controlled until I became pregnant. Both my PCP and OB became concerned when I started having frequent seizures and I was urged to get back into my neurologist asap. I told the office staff what was going on, and they were able to give me an appointment for about a week later. Today, the day of my appointment, I received a call from office staff 15 minutes before my appointment time. Someone got on the phone and told me the doctor will not see me today because she can't prescribe any medication, make changes, or give advice while I'm pregnant. I asked what am I supposed to do? I'm pregnant and having seizures. And I couldn't get an answer. My pcp and ob won't handle it because...they aren't neurologists. I was told I needed to see an epilepsy specialist from here on out (the one who canceled my appointment) and that the next appointment is over 3 months from now. I wasn't given any advice on what I should do if I have a grand mal, or any options on how to recieve necessary and time sensitive medical care. Whoever I spoke to wasn't helpful or kind at all, and I find it inappropriate for a receptionist or tech to be giving info like this over the phone anyway, the doctor should have spoke to me especially once I had questions. I made it clear from the moment I called what my concerns entailed, and I was told 15 MINUTES before my appointment that the doctor won't see me. I got off the phone and had no idea what to do, I'm in a dangerous situation and the specialist not only won't see me, but won't speak to me or guide me. My only chance now is to hope my PCP will continue prescribing these meds while my neurologist won't, and hopefully find a solution that resolves my seizures. Otherwise I see no option other than to go to the ER after my next seizure and explain I am unable to recieve appropriate medical care and have no idea what to do. I'm terrified that they would leave a patient without any help or information. I have never felt abandoned by a doctor before today nor have i ever written a negative review, please consider choosing elsewhere to handle your neuro conditions- especially if you plan on getting pregnant, because they will drop you."
"Terrible terrible terrible ! Can't get through on the phone . Can't get my prescriptions refilled . I'm dying here but they don't care . Was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome . Took them two weeks to diagnose me . Not that they did . They thought I needed spinal surgery .They had a specialist from Beaumont come in and he diagnosed me . Now I'm suffering from long term effects because I sat in the ICU for 2 weeks while they tried to figure out what was wrong . Unbelievable ! Avoid McLaren at all costs !"
"Update: I am increasing my rating to 3 because I feel like the manager and system are trying to nake improvements. I just hope they educate staff and improve patient care. Previous: I wish I could give more than 1 star for the clinic because Dr. Steinbock was great. He was very patient with my parents and took time to answer questions and address concerns. The staff in the office however caused the visit to be very distressing. They lack empathy regarding elderly patient needs and miss the concept of patient/family centered care that should be the corner stone of our healthcare system."
"UPDATE: Here we are yet again. I have been with out my medication since last week. called Pharmacy, they said they sent a request for my medication and it was rejected by the Dr. office. Time for me to start looking into a new Health care team. I'm getting NOWHERE with McLaren!!!! It's nearly impossible to get your Medication refills. I'm told I have to have another appointment, With that being said, I had one on Tuesday. Also had a Frequency change on my med and I don't have any left. called and spoke to Someone yesterday, said my Script would be sent to pharmacy. Nope did not happen, called today and now they are closed till Monday. THANK YOU!!!! I really need to start looking into another health care system. I have nothing but issues not only from this office by my PCP as well.. I'M DONE!!!!"
"I didn't even get the opportunity to meet one of the doctors. After waiting almost 2 months for a doctor appointment. The staff calling me multiple occasions trying to change my appointment. When I told them I'm a stay-at-home mom with two young children a husband who is a district manager and had to request a vacation day in order for me to see a doctor. I have no babysitter. I take care of my own children I don't have the luxury of help. They call me the day of my appointment and try to change it. I tell them I cannot with my husband schedule. I tell them I only have insurance for 11 more days my husband is at work I cannot change my appointment time. I give them 11 other days that they could schedule me in, or ask to see another doctor. And I'm told no. I tell them the problems I'm having and I am persistent that I cannot change my appointment time I have no sitter. I stress again I only have insurance for 11 more days can they fit me in somewhere. They keep giving me the same times I say I cannot do it because of my husband schedule. I get frustrated and my voice level goes higher I get the office manager on the phone next she hangs up on me, who does that to a patient? Most inconsiderate office I've ever had to deal with. Staff does not care about their patients. Now I have to find another neurologist and we all know this is not easy. Plus the wait time a new appointment will be another 3 to 6 months to see a neurologist and live in this daily pain that I do. So hurt and disappointed by this doctor's office. The staff is horrible I would never recommend or suggest you go to them."
