"On 2/17/24 my cat ate a piece of a plastic grocery bag, she was choking on said bag. In our ignorance and panic my wife and I gave her hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. A few hrs after giving her the peroxide she puked up a little what looked like blood so we rushed her to this horrible place. They do X-ray and blood work and say she fine to go home that night. Fast forward a few days my cat is not eating nor drinking and the medicine they gave her had her non coherent and drooling like she was a zombie. So we take her off the medication, the next day my cat is coherent and no longer zombified, but she still isn't eating. We end up calling her primary veterinarian and he says that we need to take her back to the emergency vet and get an ultrasound done on her. So on 2/20/24 as suggested by my cat's primary vet we take her back here. We call beforehand as requested and inform them we are on our way in and we need an ultrasound. We show up and they want to run more blood work and X-rays. They do their tests and say they want to keep her overnight due to a concern with the X-ray that there might be a blockage. Which is why primary requested an ultrasound. On 2/21/24 they call back with an update saying our cat still is not eating but she had a bio movement which looked normal but she still isn't eating and they want to keep her overnight again. On 2/22/24 they call back with another update saying the same thing they did they say before. Now we are brought to today 2/23/24, they tell me she still isn't eating much and they want to keep her longer. I asked about the ultrasound and they said she never got one nor is there anything in the notes about doing an ultrasound. Just like anyone else would be I'm extremely upset. We brought my cat there specifically for an ultrasound recommended by her primary veterinarian and they still haven't done it nor do they have a record of that being the reason for the visit. I'm upset and rightfully so... The female Dr kept interrupting me and arguing with me on the phone acting careless and completely rude saying how they did everything they thought was best and didn't care they didn't do what was asked. She's telling me I need to talk to her nicer due to the frustration in my voice and I told her "perception is a mfer isn't it" and she hung up on me. Needless to say I'm on my way with the police to pick up my cat to bring her home and see how she's doing. If we need to take her back to an animal hospital it will definitely not be this one."
"Took our dog here for an after hours emergency at 4am. Unfortunately we had to put him down, however the entire staff were beyond comforting and supportative. Dr. Brink and our Vet Tech was especially outstanding. Dr. Brink had incredible knowledge and bedside manner was the best I've seen by far. Out vet tech was also superb who was just as emotional as we were about our dog. You can tell the staff truly loves animals. The facility itself was very clean and up to date. It was a terrible experience having to put our pet down but having the support of everyone there made it easier. I would highly recommend this facility for any of your animals needs."
"I can' thank AEC enough for their amazing professionalism and compassionate hearts! From the moment they answered the phone with a warm welcoming and helpful information walking me through exactly what to expect when we got there. We unfortunately had to make an unexpected decision to put our dog down, they presented all the options with extremely fair pricing for all arrangements. We aren't even a week out and we already got our babies paw print and ashes beautifully packaged and sent right to our door. AEC staff thank you so much for making an extremely painful process a little less complicated!"
"Took in my 6.5 year old kitty at 5am on Christmas Eve without calling ahead first because I was desperate. A kind nurse came to the lobby to evaluate how critical it was and determined it wasn’t an immediate emergency, but should be seen asap. They were open and transparent about wait times telling me that the next available vet would be in about 7am, but would need to evaluate their overnight patients first and likely couldn’t get to me until about 8am (with an understanding that life threatening emergencies would be seen first). Hearing I had been waiting for 2 hours and that the overnight patients were well enough, Dr. Robertson agreed to see my kitty almost immediately. About half an hour later, she returned to the room after initial evaluation to go over findings and complications to update the quote and said that my kitty would have her surgery today, as soon as they could, and would not need to stay overnight. About 4pm, they called and said that the surgery was more complicated than we thought it would be, but that it went well and I could come pick her up in about an hour so she could be observed while waking up from anesthesia. They even agreed to waive the $70 overnight fee for me out of kindness for my patience and understanding in waiting. Total was about $900 for everything including meds. SO THANKFUL this place was open and had such kind nurses and doctors on staff on a very busy weekend and a holiday. Highly recommend to any pet parents with unfortunate emergencies!!"
"I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I brought my dog, Ruby, in to be seen for excessive diarrhea & they took very good care of her. She had an accident in one room and were quick & attentive to get us into a cleaner room with even more potty pads & even a towel made her feel the best. It was a long wait I won’t lie but worth every minute of waiting. Everyone was truly great from the receptionist to the doctor. The receptionist helped me out when I was thirsty & was unable to leave due to the circumstances bringing me water to the room while I waited to be seen. She was also fantastically helpful when it came to care credit and not understanding how to use it properly. She was patient, kind, & understanding. The nurse went above & beyond her duties. She helped me clean my dog up before she got in my car cause she wouldn’t let them rinse her down cause she was so sore. She explained everything in detail so I comprehended it being half asleep running on caffeine & anxious. The doctor worked well within my budget range & was very knowledgeable in diagnosing my Ruby. We just got home & Ruby ended up getting sick so when I called back they were still providing the same treatment over the phone. This place is literally heavenly when it comes to doctors they want to run your pockets dry but these people make sure you have an answer every step of the way not breaking the bank. Honestly five stars isn’t even enough to rate this place. THANK YOU SO MUCH ANIMAL EMERGENCY CENTER ROCHESTER! You let this fur mama sleep easy tonight."
