"My plan to was to transfer my two students to Summit and I was made to feel that my child with an IEP was not welcome there. My middle school age son has an IEP. When he was scheduled for placement testing his IEP requirements were not met so he scored low on the placement testing. Then the teacher that is in charge of their resource department pulled me aside and gave me what she called her "normal" welcome speech. This speech was very off putting and made it sound like Summit would not be able to willing to meet his IEP needs. I was told that depending on his academic needs he might not be allowed to take electives. The avoided having him retake the placement testing and instead decided to decide where to place him in the school based on his last round of state testing results. Based on these results and his score on his unassisted placement testing I was told via VOICE MAIL that Summit would advise that my son be retained to the 5th grade. When I called to discuss this and my frustration with this process I was told my this same teacher, "Well I am sorry you feel that way" . First impression on the staff at this facility is a total bust. My son will be returning to Metro Charter Academy where his differences are welcomed and overcome"
"I feel like there is always things schools can improve on. Overall my daughter is getting a good education. I do appreciate the way they are always looking for ways to improve the school. Teachers have been good."
"I mean, this school isn't bad. I know the teachers here much more stricter than my last. I came here in February last year for seventh grade. I wouldn't say I get bullied but I will say I do get picked on. I understand that they give us harder work to test us. I hate that now but probably will enjoy it as I grow older. Thanks."
"Our kids have been going here for three or four years. Though they would rather be going to a regular public high school. We are sure that they are much better off at Summit with a stricter dress code that they do not have to worry about competing with everyone. The staff does try to help the kids along when they are struggling, but the kids really need to realize what their there for and stay focused."
"This school is very good. I've been going to this school since third grade. Even though there are times where this school seems like a hell hole, it's very good and helpful with education and struggling subjects. In Middle and High School, they have a laptop program that each student who signs up for, gets their own personal laptop for the entire school year and Middle School years and ninth grade in High School This school is very excellent"
