"This place is beyond amazing! I am so appreciative that I was able to participate in the Comphrensive Musculoskeletal PT program. I worked with Jess who showed nothing but support and encouragement throughout the program. She listened about difficulties I encountered and together we set goals to work on during the program. She pushed me (but kept me safe) and reminded me that we would achieve the goals with time as well as patience. This program really helped build up my confidence, physical endurance, and gave me hope that I could regain a part of my life (that I was unsure if I would ever regain). Thank you so much Jessica at the U of M Comprehensive Musculoskeletal physical therapy program - I will for ever be grateful for all your help!"
"Been a patient here since it arose. From the caring staff to the excellent organization of timing scheduling and health care. I will be here until I'm gone. Special thanks to Victoria and Dr Dess, I owe you both my life twice. Once for oncology efforts and once for helping me get to my everyday treatments. I used to think why would another person care about me, at 52 I'm just beginning to realize that they do care. Brighton center for specialty care is top notch. I even had the same radiation treatment team from 2018 ,"
"I had a gender affirming double mastectomy here a week ago and I was blown away by the level of care, organization, communication, and friendliness of staff. I have anxiety and usually medical related trips are a nightmare, trying to find the right building, door, parking lot, then dealing with staff that seems like they're annoyed with you, but every single moment of my experience at Brighton was phenomenal. The first nurse that I spoke to (Linda) was so friendly, warm and approchable. My surgeon Dr. Tsu was very communicative and made sure to introduce me to every person on the surgery team and explain their role. When I got out of surgery I woke up kind of freaked out due to PTSD and the nurse Lori was so kind and patient and helped me get through my meltdown and was very respectful of my space and autonomy even though in hindsight I realized I was super drugged up on anesthesia still and being a little bit of a disaster (trying to get up and use the bathroom 5 minutes after I woke up from surgery, not cooperating in general, asking over and over for my partner because I was scared, demanding she step out of the room while I used the bedpan because for some reason I didn't want her to see my naked butt (as if 5 surgeons didn't just literally see me half naked)). When I told the anesthesiologist I was worried about waking up mid surgery he was super reassuring and told me he would definitely make sure I was OUT, and when I told him I was a redhead he laughed and said he'd give me "redhead levels" of anesthesia and I had nothing to worry about. I see a lot of doctors and medical staff on a regular basis for some health issues and I have never interacted with staff as caring, competent, and knowledge as I have at the Brighton surgery center"
"I am so grateful to the physical (Jess) , occupational (Bev) and Speech (Jenn) therapist here. My Husband had a PCA Stroke during Shoulder Replacement Surgery. He has lost a lot of his vision, ability to read, his memory, his strength, his ability to walk etc. They were full when we first tried to get in. (Piece of advice. Insist on speaking to the head of Physical therapy. They said they would have got him in sooner had they known the severity of what happened to him.. The receptionist gave me a 4-6 month wait…. ) so we set up in home therapy. It went as well as it could with what could be done at home. Liz his speech therapist… Good. Felt she did not push him enough. She was to soft hearted. His OT Andy… FANTASTIC. He really pushed him and made sure he talked to him about things he enjoyed and wanted to talk about so he got on a personal level with him. It made a big difference then the lady before from a different company. . His PT Kristie… SHES PHENOMENAL! She pushed him and egged him on. If you’re the type that gets offended easily and doesn’t like to joke around. Shes not for you. She did as much as she could from a at home therapy. They told us they helped as much as they could from home therapy And said he would benefit greatly from outpatient. Since I am the only one able to work now. We had to find a company that could get him to and from therapy. (Peoples express (Amazing company as well) the only company that was reasonably priced and crossed over county lines) With in 2 weeks of outpatient speech therapy with Jenn… He was recognizing letter sounds. Its been 3 months he is now recognizing words and learning how to read sentences by word/letter recognition. Its hard to describe to you what i mean by this. But he gas very low vision bc if the stroke. So he’s not really reading the words per-say as to getting his brain to recognize what the word says. Some reading he’s able to do with SUPER BRIGHT LIGHT. And a lot of time to concentrate on letters. In the 3 months of Ot and PT he’s received here. He had learned how to walk on his own again, and can use his left arm again. We still have room to grow and we are sticking with them. I cant tell you how unbelievably grateful I am for the care he has received from this care team."
