Cesar E. Chavez Elementary School

Cesar E. Chavez Elementary School is a primary school located at 1205 Cesar E. Chavez Avenue Southwest in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As the principal of the school, I am excited to welcome both new and returning families to our vibrant learning community. Our dedicated staff eagerly awaits the laughter, energy, and enthusiasm for learning that our scholars bring to our classrooms.

At Cesar E. Chavez Elementary, we take pride in our beautiful school and have high expectations for each and every scholar. Our students are known for their kindness, compassion, and resilience. Together with our committed staff, we strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and accepted.

Our goal is to inspire active scholar engagement that fosters a lifelong love for learning. We believe in empowering our students to become critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and agents of positive change in their communities.

With a start time of 8:30 a.m. and dismissal at 3:26 p.m., we provide a structured and supportive learning environment to help our students thrive. We offer a bilingual transition program to support English Learners and celebrate the diversity of our Hispanic/Latinx community.

At Cesar E. Chavez Elementary, we prioritize the partnership between educators, parents, and the community to support academic achievement for all students. Our teachers go above and beyond to ensure that each child's needs are met and that parents are actively involved in their child's education.

We incorporate modern technology into our curriculum and have a 1-to-1 student technology device approach to ensure that every student has the tools they need to succeed. Additionally, we have implemented Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) to promote positive behavior and create a safe and inclusive school environment.

We are proud to be a cultural center that celebrates diversity and hosts events to honor different cultures. Our school values family involvement and regularly hosts family events throughout the year.
