UM-Dearborn Early Childhood Education Center

The UM-Dearborn Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) is a high-quality early childhood program located at 18501 Rotunda Drive in Dearborn, Michigan. As a unit of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services (CEHHS), the ECEC is a State of Michigan approved and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited early learning center for young children. Our accreditation by NAEYC is effective through 2027, ensuring that we meet high standards for early childhood education programs.

In addition to our NAEYC accreditation, the ECEC is also a 4-star rated Great Start to Quality school and a recipient of the 2018 Early Learning Award. We serve as a model teacher preparation and child study facility for university students enrolled in various UM-Dearborn education courses.

Enrollment is currently open for both continuing and new families, with priority given to five-day enrollment. New families can submit an application online and will be notified of placement within 10 business days. A $250 enrollment fee is required to secure a spot for your child.

For families interested in the Great Start to Readiness Program grant, which provides free or reduced preschool programming for 4-year-olds, please fill out the interest form and submit it to the ECEC office. The program runs Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4pm and is based on family income. Additional forms and procedures will be provided by the state once the program is officially launched.
