"My wife and I had dinner at a table in the bar area which is a little less noisy than the main dining room when busy, especially on a weekend at this popular west side neighborhood Italian restaurant. A welcoming family environment for 47 years now. The food is fresh, homemade, tasty and reasonably priced. Service was great. My wife had the lasagna and I had one of the specials, maple glazed salmon. Both were very good. Will return to try other entrees or pizza. We did return this evening for dinner for the manicotti special on Tuesday's. Delicious! We returned again tonight and tried a couple of other entrees. I had the linguine carbonara which was very good. A half order is enough, trust me. My wife had a personal size pizza of their award winning Taste of Grand Rapids which has various ethnic spices on it which is very good! Sorry I was so hungry I forgot to take pics. Geez! 12/28/2023 we returned again tonight and sat at the bar with some vino and had the special, baked walleye with fettuccine alfredo with spinach and a salad with garlic bread. Very good! We shared a lemon cello gelato for dessert. Yum! They have the walleye during Lent too. Always a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, like home."

"I got takeout from Salvatore’s tonight and it was delicious! The pizza was hot, there was a ton of cheesy goodness and spicy pepperoni and the price is fantastic - you absolutely can’t beat the 16in pepperoni for $12! The breadsticks were also very tasty! We will definitely be coming back!"

"4.8/5 Stars I'm a very big critic when it comes to places like this. Especially pizza. But let me start by saying this place is outstanding and very reasonable priced. I ordered 2 pizzas, the artichoke dip, salad, and chicken tenders. The dip was extremely good! Especially with the garlic bread. The salad had nothing but green lettuce and tasted amazing. The pizza is some of the absolute best I've ever tried! And I like to try pizza places all over the US. The chicken tenders we won't even count because it was the kids' menu, haha. Overall, this is one of the best pizza places in GR I have tried!!"

"Decided to check this place out after hearing some word of mouth buzz recommending it. We had a dreadful experience. This is an Italian restaurant. The mozzarella sticks came with chips on the side. They served me red wine in a white wine glass. The Caesar salad wasn't dressed and came with a pile dumped on of store-grade parmesian dust-style cheese. The soup was a basic can of chicken noodle heated up. The garlic bread was basically a hot dog bun. Neither of us finished our pasta and threw away the leftovers. I'm pretty sure everything here came out of a box or a can. This is GFS, the restaurant. The hostess didn't seat us (or see us) for 15 minutes even though we were the only ones standing there waiting. Once seated, it took another 20 minutes before a server came to the table. We ordered right away, figuring the wait would be for everything. They didn't bring us waters until after the food arrived. It was just an overall mess for service. It's a harsh review. I know. I don't typically do this. You can check my other reviews to confirm. We had a bad time. The kind where we considered leaving at several points throughout. Bright side, the pizza looked pretty good? But we didn't get any."
