"Absolutely magical atmosphere and a beautiful community feel!… Recommended by a friend, we visited Flying Bear to experience their DELICIOUS gluten free crepes and open mic night. To ensure crepes were still available during Friday open mic nights, my partner Shawn called ahead, and the answer was YES! On a quest for the perfect birthday treat, these crepes not only surpassed our expectations but also led to a heartwarming surprise. Despite it being our first visit, the entire place joined in singing a happy birthday song for Shawn upon us walking in the door! We also got an herbal tea which was very yummy, and Eric kindly filled my tea mug with hot water about 3 times unprompted…just amazing people & customer service. The genuine warmth and sense of community, plus the encouragement of self-expression and artistic creation, made our experience truly special. If you find yourself in Newaygo, we wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Flying Bear! Great vibes & melt-in-your-mouth crepes ✨"

"My daughter, very my talkative son Jupiter, and I stopped randomly on our way out of town. This was our first visit. I can't wait to come back and take my time looking through their selection. I'm overjoyed to see native books and a mixed culture of books! Along with the small reading nooks! I could go on and on. But what warms my heart is how the owner chatted with my very energetic son, and so kindly made him a second drink. Treating him like a person and not just another kid. Thank you for this. "It's such a beautiful little store with some nice gift options, too. New and used books, tasty crepes, delicious lattes and friendly owners. My favorite thing are these wrapped mystery books, they are prewrapped with a drink, bookmark and some other little goodies, along with a small description of the book! Take one home make the tea provided and unwrap an exciting mystery."

"Amazing selection. This place has main character energy. Great vibe with so many little corners to get lost in a book. Many novelties and art to give you a shot of dopamine. It's really like ... a book store and coffee shop had a cool eclectic baby. If your local and haven't been there your missing out. "Wow, the experience we had here was incredible!! No bookstore/cafe has lived up to our expectations since! The friendliness from the owners, the deliciousness from the crepes and the London Fog (OMG!), the coziness from the old books (great prices!), the thoughtfulness of all the little touches throughout the shop (the instruments, the handmade book kits, the cute seating areas)…all made our trip amazing! We stayed in the Muskegon River Inn next door & had a wonderful small town experience! They have poetry/open mic/local author nights throughout the week that we missed but such a great idea!!"
