"Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the women checking us out, she said she made that pasties . We stopped on our way back downriver To start great customer service friendly welcoming. We got the venison and bacon pasties sat and ate everything was delicious. My 10 yr old even said is was great and tipped out of her own money 5$ and said "she is so nice I like her." The gravy was so savory and added to the already delicious venison pasties. Crust was crispy but not dry . Grabbed some to go, venison and turkey (thanksgiving dinner) ate the turkey when we got got home with some cranberry dressing , everything was great! definitely a place we will continue to stop by when in the area"
"It's a small restaurant attached to a general store. The people who worked there were very friendly and they told me some places to see in the U.P. since I'm traveling. I tried one of their beef pasties because I've never had a pasty before and I wanted to see what it was like. It wasn't super flavorful (although still fairly good) and the edges of the crust were a little hard to chew, but it was very satisfying on a cold day. It stayed hot for a long time and filled me up. The price was pretty decent for what I got. I wish there was more meat, but overall I enjoyed it. I think it would have been better if I got it with gravy, but I was trying to not spend too much. Maybe I should have added a little salt and pepper."
"Raspberry & cherry pastie filling dried out pastry soggy. Not good. It was like my pie after 4 days. BUT pasties were absolutely great. Big pieces of meat. Seasoned good. Had venison & beef."
"My wife and I came to visit the U.P. From Texas. We were anxious to try the areas pasties during our 4 weeks of travel all through the U.P. We ate a lot of Pasties from different areas. We ordered our Pasties and sat down to eat them. We both looked at each other and said, these are the best we’ve had. They had taste which many we tried elsewhere lacked. The pastry was top notch and the meat was more than adequate. At another shop nearby we ordered a pasty with gravy, the pasty and the gravy were both very bad, this was our first pastie on the U.P. My wife almost gave up on the pasties, I told her we couldn’t give up based on one. We both agreed no more gravy , it was that bad. After telling the owner how happy we were with the pasties we told her about our prior gravy experience, she immediately suggested we try her gravy, my God it was delicious. I was so upset I didn’t get it for the pastie I just finished! We talked of a bit and we bought another 10 to take home with us. I love it when I visit a small business where the owners take such pride in their product. She was very patient in educating us in the world of pasties. When we come back, it will be our only pastie stop! Now if we can all get together and talk them into shipping them!"
"Small "hole in the wall" sort of place where you know the good food is always home. The large beef pasties are exceptional.... Which is why we always stop here on our visits to the U P. (FYI: The corn beef pastie I would not recommend as the beef chunks are large, chewy and not fine enough to blend in with the other ingredients.) Definitely plan on returning as always for the beef pasties though.... Plus the small party store adjacent has some unique pop and alcohol offerings. ;-)"
