"This company sold unhealthy plants that were improperly packaged, undersized, root bound and often DEAD! They sell bare root plants that are NOT listed as such on their website. My plants arrived dried out with NOTHING to keep the roots moist. This site is a joke! They also have a horrible return policy. Don't buy from them, ever! Their return policy requires you to physically mail back any junk, dead plants at YOUR expense. When they got my return, they sent no acknowledgement of receipt whatsoever. Then after a long wait, I did get a refund but I was shorted on the proper amount. They tried to shortchange me! I caught the error & emailed them. They did nothing after TWO WEEKS of waiting. So I was forced to dispute the difference thru my credit card company. FRAUD!"
"I would give -5 stars for this company!! I ordered from this company and almost 4 months later I received my order every single plant was ruined no soil dead burnt because they sent it in the heat of the summer when I ordered it when it should’ve been planted!! No customer service!! no help!! I was very upset!! nobody to help you!! I will never order from this company again!! They would not refund my money so I sent back a letter with the original label and they sent it back to me saying I need to give the plants a chance.. Nice way to make a angry customer even angrier!! Very bad practice!!!"
"I waited a longer than usual amount of time for these plants. They were rotten upon arrival. I was not provided a tracking number and was home when fedex brought them. Opened immediately and received rotted plants and dried out bulbs. This company does not know how to ship properly. I would not consider ordering from them. I had to email twice after the 5 weeks was up waiting to ask about my order. Customer service got back to me - kept reminding me to keep my shipping label to return. I sent them the photos with this post. I imagine they are used to complaints like this. So highly disappointing. Waste of money. They were shipping to central NY."
"We ordered in January. Nothing came. Emailed them and got a response in March (traditionally we plant our bare root plants in Feb-March at our location, our Tennessee Nursery trees have been planted for weeks with no issues) They sent my Butterfly Bushes, look fairly healthy. I think a website update showing better details would be helpful to customers. And if your website says shipped out by April then ship out by April please. Update: got fruit trees April 28 and seeds very last this past week, 2 weeks after our last frost. Trees overall healthy but Pecan and Persimmon appear dead, spent a week with FedEx. So I got all items. The freebies were substituted and currently not growing, look to be total loss. Shipped at weird times, not correct for my zone, and after ideal time to plant. Took 5 months to get seeds, Burgess which is another associate company with Direct Gardening. Please know if you get trees/strawberries from this company, to soak roots at least overnight if not 24 hrs to help them recover."
"I ordered around 30 trees/plants (privet hedge, maple tree, 4 varieties apple) and had very good success. Although I did have some privets and couple maples not make it. I contacted Direct Gardening about theses and they replaced with no questions and no charge. Just remember....bare root trees/plants mean it comes dormant and looking like a stick. I planted in the spring and the trees/plants are going fantastic. I will not hesitate to order again from Direct Gardening. I would've gave a 5-star, but I did have some plants I needed to replace. below is how they all came in bare root and then later is a pic of a maple and privet hedge and the 4 apple trees doing quite well!"
