Reviews
"I lived at Wilson Plaza for 4 years, it’s slowly been going down hill. The maintenance is not kept up on the building, broken laundry machines, roaches, lack of communication, the “landlord special” on just painting over damage and the last straw was no heat which caused so many problems last winter."
"I lived in Wilson Plaza from the summer of 2022 to the summer of 2023. While I think that it is far from the worst place to live in Columbus, I would certainly not recommend living here to anyone. The pros of living in this complex are inexpensive rent, free parking, on-site laundry, reasonable requirements for pet owners, and a close proximity to downtown Columbus. Despite these positive attributes, I feel that the cons far outweigh the pros. The main issue I came across while living in Wilson Plaza was that it’s an old building with little to no updates. The walls and doors are thin, causing sound to travel easily. The ground of my apartment shook when the children living below me ran around. The biggest issue with the building was inadequate heating and cooling. If you choose to live here, do not live on the third floor. By April it was already insufferably hot and I found myself unable to turn off fans or air conditioning from April to August. This was not as bad as the lackluster heating. I lived on the corner of the third floor, so cold air got into my unit easily. From October to February, my apartment’s temperature was rarely above 65 degrees. I made a maintenance request and after fixing the heat didn’t help, a maintenance team member instructed me to purchase plastic sheeting to cover my windows and air conditioning unit. This same team member helped me install it and did so incorrectly. My boyfriend had to reinstall it for me. Still, it made little difference. A $25 space heater from Target got me through the winter. Another downside of living on the end of the building was the amount of bugs that got into my apartment. Within my first month of living there, I bought a bug light to catch as many as possible. There was a window in the hallway that was broken throughout my lease. It was often left open, letting in all kinds of bugs. On top of that, a mouse got into my apartment in the winter. I kept my space very clean and was diligent about not leaving food in the trash can for too long. The mouse was under my fridge for an entire day. I did not report this to management because candidly, I did not have much faith in them at this point in my lease. The next issue I dealt with at Wilson Plaza was having packages stolen. The first was $90 worth of clothing. I left a note in the mail room asking for the package to be returned and received a note from a neighbor that shared that they had multiple packages stolen in the few months they had lived there. I had another small Amazon package stolen a month later. When I contacted management about this issue, they said that they were unable to receive packages at the main office because it was a liability. Their suggestion was for me to rent a P.O. box. I realize that this is more of a tenant issue than a management issue, but their lack of action was disappointing and frustrating. Another tenant-related issue I came across was disregard for cleanliness in common areas. There was a discarded armchair that held open a door on the third floor for nearly my entire leasing period. Cigarette butts were often scattered in the stairwells. At one point, a neighbor of mine was caring for a stray cat on a second floor landing. Luckily, management only allowed this for a few days before getting rid of the makeshift litter box and food dishes. Attached you will find an image of a note a neighbor left for management at the bottom of a stairwell. I feel that it adequately expresses the frustrations many residents had. If living at Wilson Plaza is the best option for you financially, I think you could do a lot worse. However, if you have a more flexible budget and are looking for a reliable, clean, and safe place to live I would suggest looking elsewhere. Many of these 5 star reviews do not reflect my experience. Management offered you a chance to get $100 off of your rent if you submitted a 5 star review. This is why their review score has improved in the last 6 months. This tactic mirrors exactly what I saw at Wilson Plaza: cosmetic fixes for structural issues."
"In case anyone is wondering, the mass amount of 5 star reviews are partly due to bribery. Like most other businesses, they ran a campaign where you could get $100 off your rent. But that leaves the question of why? Well, between a front desk that never answers calls or visits and maintenance staff that lets your issues go on for months at a time, we can see why they would attempt to run for damage control. I can say that out of the "Value, Comfort, and Convenience," the only thing they offer is "Value." The low rent and the fact that my things are already here are the only reason I haven't moved after 7 years. Their automated system for rent breaks easily, and you're left holding the bag when the front desk refuses to answer calls and visits. So, be prepared to pay twice your usual rent if you're up for renewal. Pot holes in the parking lot, a laundromat (with machines full of dirty water) that hasn't been functional for months, and my own personal escapade of dealing with raw sewage leaking from my ceiling (for months) is enough for me to tell anyone else to think twice about living here."
"the best wilson plaza apartments, good service and communication with the resident, They have a pool, a good rental price and excellent parking spaces"
"They have good staffing and good maintenance and they work hard on making the residents happy. Plus, they care about their residents. They make all the efforts to make everyone happy in their complex. I moved in on February 7th and I've had no problems with the staff here at all"
