About the Business

The Cannaley Treehouse Village, located at 3520 Waterville Swanton Road in Swanton, Ohio, is a unique lodging experience that offers a one-of-a-kind stay in the trees. This public treehouse village features a variety of accommodations, including six-person, ADA-accessible, and tent platforms for camping. Each treehouse is equipped with electricity, heat, and air conditioning, with nearby restroom and shower facilities.
Guests can enjoy gathering around a campfire, exploring connecting boardwalks, crossing a canopy bridge, and taking in the views from a crow's nest. The village is available for overnight stays, with the option to rent individual treehouses or reserve the entire village for special events.
To ensure inclusivity, the village has established occupancy caps for traditional rentals and offers community outreach programs on Mondays and Tuesdays. Local non-profit agencies with similar missions to Metroparks Toledo can reserve the village at no cost during these days.
The treehouses each have their own unique themes and features, such as the equestrian-inspired Stable, the mountain biker's paradise Hub, and the spider web-themed Dragline. Tent platforms are also available for a unique camping experience high above the ground.
Guests can make reservations by phone, email, or online, with check-in and check-out times specified for treehouses and tent platforms. A cancellation policy is in place, with refunds issued based on the timing of the notice.
The development of the Treehouse Village was made possible through the support of the local community and the Metroparks Toledo Foundation. Private contributions fund the village's development, while rental fees cover operational costs. A local team of experts oversees the design and construction of the village to ensure a responsible and cost-effective project.
For assistance during their stay, guests can contact Metroparks staff during park hours or call 911 in case of emergencies. The village provides a shared fire pit with wood provided by Metroparks, and guests are reminded not to bring their own firewood or cut wood in the park.
Whether guests are looking for a relaxing retreat in nature or a fun adventure in the trees, the Cannaley Treehouse Village offers a memorable and immersive experience for all who visit.
Reviews
"We didn't really know what to expect until we got there. The fact that we had to bring so much stuff to stay in a small tree house had me second-guessing it. It turned out to be a really fun weekend, and we will definitely go back in warmer weather. There is a micro brewery on site, but we didn't get anything to drink. Nice large area with swings and chairs to have a fire, but no alcohol is permitted outside which is understandable if kids and families are staying. All in all, we had a fun time with basic necessities and no TV for two days. I highly recommend this place!"
"Stayed at "The Nest". The space is very cozy. I would really like to stay there in the spring or early summer. BYOB: Bring your own bedding"
"My mom and I stayed in The Loft for her birthday, as it's close to her house and been on her bucket list since they were built. In summary it's a great place if you bring kids, not so much if you don't. It's a weird mix of hotel and cabin camping. Huge fridge, microwave, pizza oven, but have to walk elsewhere for bathroom and even further for shower, bring your own water and bedding, no real amenities beyond binoculars in the room (ex Keurig with no cups). - BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING - that was definitely not listed in the very lengthy instructions, good thing mom lives close by - bring your own water too and utensils etc - no kindling or firestarter for the communal fire pit, so bring those or hope someone else did if you want a fire - close to town so you'll hear trains and airplanes all night, not a very emersive woodland experience - couldn't figure out the internet, but there definitely was some because of the smart tv - the tree flooring in the loft was not good, very uneven and slippery in socks, big hazard for small kids and older adults - no curtains up in the loft bed, and the stairs to get up there were steep and slippery and noisy - beds were very very very firm It's pretty obvious that the place was built for looks not function (for example ceiling fans couldn't stay on without the lights being on). If you have kids this is a great place to let them run around and have fun, but if you're childless go to a real treehouse through Airbnb in Kentucky or Tennessee that has better views and plumbing, for similar pricing. That's on our bucket list now, since this one was disappointing."
"The Hub had the composting toilet removed. Very nice cabin with fridge and microwave. Electric outdoor grill on deck. Space to park bikes by front door. The coffee shop/brewery hosts food trucks on weekends. High winds were forecasted for my stay. Aside from a few sways you couldn't tell it was windy. Park office called to let us know we could reschedule if we wanted due to wind. Bathrooms were kept clean and heated. Showers were very nice located by brewery."
