"A few years ago, I called to various dentists to start having regular checkups, cleanings, and a relationship with a dentist for our children. After contacting a few places, we were thrilled when we found a dentist in Mason that could take care of them. When setting up their initial appointment, I confirmed that their location accepted our insurance. The person I spoke with on the phone said they indeed did. We checked in with our insurance cards and our kids appointments went very smoothly. Months went by and we received a notice of an overdue bill from Healthy Smiles. I was shocked and called to find out more information. I can't think of ever having a bill past due, so this was a very pressing matter to me. When I spoke with the receptionist she said that they do accept our insurance, but our insurance won't pay them for the basic cleaning. I pointed out that this seems like a matter between them and a fellow company and should be a decision for them on whether to accept their insurance going forward instead of leaving our family on the hook with a bill. She said they were looking into it and asked if we would call on their behalf! I was astonished. We've never been back and couldn't recommend them. Based on our experience, you might show up for an appointment where they said ahead of and during your visit that your insurance is accepted and then afterwards leave you on the hook for a bill out of pocket."
