"Based on Mackey's 4+ star Google rating, we took our car to Mackey Radiator. Auto Care for what we thought was a radiator leak. I wish there were a Zero or less stars option to reflect how terrible our experience was – 33 days, $698, and constant run-around about what they were doing with the car, and the problem we approved/paid for is not fixed! Dropped off the car on December 28, 2023. They told us the problem was actually a water pump leak, and because they had to remove timing belt to get to the pump, we should replace both (we approved). We paid for the water pump and timing belt. We go to pick up, they say the battery is not holding a charge and leaking battery fluid (and that “sometimes that happens when you add new component parts”?). They replace battery, we go to pick it up, car is not starting, something is wrong with the electrical system (and they vaguely imply that they might have done or not something to electrical system when they replaced timing belt but they promise to diagnose the problem at their own expense, generous). Weeks went by – no one but the owner would talk to us when we called to ask for status of repairs, he was never there, so we would leave messages and wait sometimes days for a call back. He told us something different every time about why there was a delay. Twice, while they were still diagnosing what was wrong with electric system, he tried to talk us into putting a new engine in the car while they had it because “then the car will be like new” (maybe to cover up whatever they messed up?). We picked the car up 33 days later, January 29, 2024. Owner refused to give us a written summary of everything they did to the car AFTER the water pump and timing belt (the only two things we approved), he wouldn’t even give us a receipt showing that we picked the car up that day. He told us he didn’t really keep track, mumbles something about a couple of things he thinks they did “which is actually an upgrade”. Said he would ask the mechanic to tell him what all he did to the car, and he’ll email us the next day. We have not received that email (or a call back about sending us the details) and don't expect to hear from them. AND now, the water pump is STILL leaking (the only thing we have a receipt for is not fixed). We don’t have any hope of getting any reply from Mackey. The owner is a liar and a cheat based on our experience. We've filed a Better Business Bureau complaint (but Mackey has multiple un-answered BBB complaints so we expect ours will go unanswered also)."

"I was getting ready to go on a trip. But i forgot to get my truck looked at until the last minute. I called Mackey they had me an appointment an hour later. I dropped off my truck for inspection and tune up. They called me 2 hours later telling it was ready for pick-up im not going anywhere else from now on."
"PLEASE DON’T BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE. THIS IS MY FOURTH TIME BRINGING IT BACK FOR THE SAME ISSUE!! To make it worse, it’s causing an even bigger issue now. I brought my vehicle for a radiator repair due to smoking and overheating. They charged me $579 to replace the radiator and the smoking and overheating persisted. I brought it BACK. They told me I needed a radiator cap and the smoking and overheating persisted. I brought it back a 3rd time and they told me they could charge $200 to “see” if it’s the water pump and stated that they didn’t see anything overheating or smoking. I left it an additional day and told them to do an extended test drive because knew that the vehicle was having issues. Long story short, they ended up resetting my codes and not fixing anything or giving me a definitive answer. I’m finally on my way to bring it back for the FOURTH time and my vehicle is now completely disabled after smoking and running hot. They did not offer me a tow or any type of assistance at all whatsoever. Had the issue been fixed any of the prior 3 times, my vehicle would be running right now. Instead, I am stuck on the turnpike with my 3 year old daughter with my disabled vehicle trying to choose between fixing an issue on my vehicle that should’ve already been fixed or towing it to the same idiots that didn’t fix it the first time."
