About the Business
John and Marion Becker Cedar Falls Preserve is a stunning park located at 56 Cedar Mills Road in Blue Creek, Ohio, United States. Visitors can explore rare northern white cedar trees, a variety of wildflowers, dramatic cliffs, huge boulders, and the beautiful Cedar Falls. The Helen C. Black Trail, opened in summer 2020, offers a unique opportunity to discover this special area of The Edge of Appalachia Preserve System.
Cedar Falls is a 15-foot cascade over limestone ledges, best viewed in spring or after a heavy rain. Below the falls, Cedar Run has carved a deep gorge with cliffs up to 70 feet high. The boulder field along the trail consists of massive slump blocks of Peebles dolomite, providing a rugged yet fragile environment for lush wildflowers to thrive.
This preserve is part of the 20,000-acre Edge of Appalachia Preserve System, and visitors can enjoy Cedar Falls year-round. The trail to the falls is three miles round-trip, passing through diverse deciduous forest, rocky streams, and the impressive boulder field before reaching a dramatic overlook above the falls.
The Nature Conservancy, which owns nearly 1,500 preserves across the United States, encourages people of all backgrounds to visit their preserves and has a zero-tolerance policy for racism and discrimination. Visitors are reminded to stay on the trail for safety reasons, as direct access to the falls is prohibited.
Help protect the natural treasures of Ohio's Appalachian foothills by visiting and supporting the John and Marion Becker Cedar Falls Preserve. Please note that there are no facilities on the trail, and visitors can learn more about guidelines for power-driven mobility devices on the Nature Conservancy's website.

"Very nice trail, nicely maintained, great views and if water is running a nice waterfall. Neat history also!"
"The end of the hike will be boring trust me but the walk is nice"
"Quick walk, well kept trail, good parking. Waterfall varies with the weather."
"Great trail maintained for optimal walking. Walking boards have been laid in challenging areas. Several little bridges."
"Fantastic hiking, starting at the remnants of an old forge. The trail snakes through the woods, crossing a couple of bridges, before ending on an overlook built atop a waterfall. It's a relatively short hike, and is moderately traveled."
