"This was our family campgrounds. Friends and family have been here for 40 plus years, this Freedom group came in and 1 month later they tripled and quadrupled our price. After promising they was not going to raise our payment the first year. They lied to our face. Over 100 campers pulled out leaving like 8 campers. They are only in to line there own pockets. They say community and for the people, everytime they open their mouth. But trust the local people, they do not care. This place was like our second home. They came in and ripped it right out of our hearts. Evil, greed, lies and deception. Do not let this company thrive in our home town."
"Paid for 2024 season in full… owners did not tell us sale was in progress. New owners came in and promised no increase the first year, then the next week told us we had to pay double if we wanted to stay or be out within 14 days. We pulled out over a month ago and still have not received the $2250 payment we had paid. They claim to be family owned and operated, but Freedom Group is an investment company, not a “family” and they use scripted call centers and AI technology to communicate. They really hurt a lot of people with their takeover, and Phil and Gretchen allowed it to happen."
"We loved this campground! My husband and I stayed here for almost 2 months while he worked in a nearby city. The people are extremely friendly and always willing to help. Mary Ann and Gary were always checking in on us and making sure we felt welcomed! We had no issues with anything and would recommend this place!"
"The pool here is wonderful. There is a nice playground with lots of green space for kids. There are 2 shuffle board courts. A volleyball court etc. You can rent a paddle boat or kayak and the pond is a decent size to paddle around, or fish in. Unfortunately the little tuck shop area burned down and needs rebuilt. Once the shop is rebuilt, I'll update to 5 stars!"
"The campground is full of old and run down RVs. Some were literally patched with plywood and duct tape. Yup. The combo shower and laundry room is in total disrepair. It's the filthiest we've ever seen as well as the bathrooms which were often vandalized. The well water is so horrid and full of iron and sulphur that it's basically unusable and damages rv plumbing even with 2 large filters. Had to change filter cartridges 2-3 times a month bc they'd get so clogged and fouled up. It floods everytime there's a heavy rain and the sewer hookups flood right along with it. Many of the seasonals and full-timers are extremely clickish and often drunk and hostile. Many times we did NOT feel safe there. Some full-timers had criminal records and some were also bullies who didn't think twice about picking fights and/or threatening others. We were seasonal and couldn't wait to get the heck out of that run-down ghetto of a campground. I feel sorry for whoever buys it because it's a mess and a money pit. Exhaustive inspections and all due diligence still wouldn't disclose all the hidden and true costs of rehabilitating that property. It'll take years and very deep pockets to overcome decades of neglect and to upgrade the water and utility systems. New owners will have to deal with what comes with it, too, such as no established boundaries, or at least not enforced ones, for the condition of RVs, and no holding anyone to a reasonable standard of decent behavioral conduct. The campground has a bad reputation locally for good reason. Buyer beware!"
