"This nature preserve is situated on the banks of the Maumee River, where many different animals can be seen throughout the forest. I saw many birds, squirrels, and have seen deer here in the past while walking the 1.5 mile loop trail around the preserve. The west side of the preserve, over the bridge, has been abandoned and is now overgrown since I came here years ago. This whole preserve sits in the flood plain of the river, so during any rain it becomes very muddy and in the springtime it'll sometimes be completely under water. Among the trees are immature maples, oaks, sycamore, river birch, cottonwood, honey locust, and many others."
"Nice place to walk and enjoy the outdoors and get to the Maumee river as it heads out of fort Wayne to Toledo lots of birds and wildlife all free"
"Use to like taking my dog here. The Trails were nice. On my last visit last Wednesday 10/5/22, the Trails were all overgrown looked like they haven't been trimmed for a while. My dog could only walk on them after I did."
"Jan. 7th 2021 nice cold cloudy day. 36° everything is dead and colorless. Very quite afternoon. This is a beautiful, almost hidden trail. Nestled right along the Maumee River. I've always went to the River Greenway on the other side. From here on out I'll be coming here to. Deetz Nature Preserve. Don't forget your outdoors boots! I can't wait to visit in the Spring/Summer time."
"Oct 31. Was nice day hadnt rained in a few days so the had no standing water. Was still a little muddy but not enough for any to stick to your shoes. There aren't many trail markings. The main trail was nice and clear. We went across the bridge that the eagle scouts had made but wasn't sure if the two or three separate paths circled back or not. There used to be a sign at the entrance of the preserve but it has long faded. Overall a nice walk."
