"Was recommended to go here for the fried chicken - which was tasty, it had a lot of flavor. The coleslaw was good too, but very sweet. The green beans were canned & the mashed potatoes were instant. The menu is very limited."
"The chicken was really good, I will give it that. Moist, crunchy and delicious. The potatoes and gravy were decent. Of 7 people I was the only one that liked the gravy though. The greens were a travesty , dumped straight from a no #10 can , zero seasoning of any kind , and they were lukewarm at best . Canned beans don't bother me, that's normal , but hot dang put some flavor in em .... Bacon , garlic, onion, paprika , and some salt .... That all it takes. But nope , the beans were awful. The customer service was seriously lacking..... The bartender / server/ hostess was not overly friendly , service was pretty slow just to get refills of beers .... Overall it just wasn't a positive experience. I would come back if I happened to be in the area, because the chicken was fantastic. But I would not drive an hr again , the experience was not worth it at all. As for the atmosphere.... It's very " eating and drinking in a vfw" like. I love the family style seating and dining , there is no real vibe though. It's just drab and boring ."
"The taste of the chicken was great I can understand the hype. Portions I received were extremely small. I don't know if it was due to my order being carry out. I noticed everyone eating inside portions were normal. I got 5 pieces but only 4 were edible. The 5th I have no idea what it was as you can see in the picture."
"Iron skillet fried chicken is the best we've had in a restaurant. The hand made slaw and gravy were extremely good too. We went there on a Sunday right when they opened. No crowd. Fast service and the food arrived quickly."
"Located in a cute small town, this spot is a favorite for both locals and travelers. The servers were very nice and pleased to hear that we had traveled and hour and a half to sample their chicken. The dinner comes with half a chicken and unlimited Cole slaw, mashed potatoes/gravy, and green beans. The dinner is all served family style. We started with the fried mushrooms appetizer. They were good but pretty standard. Next they brought the Cole slaw. It was one of the best Cole slaws I've ever had. Now Cole slaw can vary drastically, but theirs was exactly how I like mine. Not too wet, not too dry, and a little sweet instead of vinegar like. Next they brought the chicken, mashed potatoes/gravy, and green beans. The green beans weren't bad and had bits of ham in them. They weren't spectacular. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant, but the brown gravy was pretty tasty. Now let me get to the reason this place is famous. Pan Fried Chicken. Shut the front door it was good! Nicely seasoned and cooked to perfection. I was very happy as I grew up eating fried chicken from my grandmother who was from Kentucky (I think she knew the Colonel lol). I take my fried chicken serious and so does Wagner's. It is a hike so if you like chicken, I would suggest this as a fun day trip. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did."
