"Thankfully Lawernce Schools are a thing of our past. They were out only choice other than public school for my boys with Aspergers. They claimed they knew what they were doing. They did not. I have advocated for my children from their birth and I didn't when it became an issue with the controlling administration. We had terrible experiences over and over. When my father forgot to pick them up one afternoon, they were left in the vestibule with out anyone noticing 2 6ft tall boys. They closed down the school with then in it. It was Winter. When they walked out the front door it locked on them. The had to walk up to Northfield Rd in the dark and cross over the 4 lanes with out a cross walk to a store they were familiar with. In years my one son asked to use the phone. He called me. I was horrified. I immediately picked them up. The next day when I emailed the head master about this particular situation. He responded with, it was my fault because I had not gotten my 13 yo boys cell phones. This was over 10 yrs ago. Kids did not get cell phones then. They did after that. If that was the only way they would be safe at that school. I pulled them out in 11 the grade when I realized that stress of going to Lawrence caused them to vomit every morning. Becareful. I hope things have changed by now."
"Lawrence School is AMAZING and Blessing to our family!!! I struggled for years to get my son the accommodations necessary to deal with his dysgraphia in both the public school setting (a school which annually ranks in the top 100 schools nationally) and in a prestigious private preparatory school for boys; neither school was willing or able to assist my son in succeeding academically. Then I found Lawrence where I enrolled him for high school. He's now at the end of his junior year, a national honor student and an extremely happy, well rounded, young man. The previous reviewer who commented on it's restrictive nature clearly wasn't speaking to the administration about their child's needs. Life is what you make of it! There are honors courses for students who accelerate in the different academic content areas and there are also multiple on-premise college courses offered to juniors & seniors each quarter. In 2013 Lawrence graduated a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, one out of the 1.5 million juniors entered nationally in 2013. I don't think Lawrence School restricting, I consider it LIBERATING!!!"
"Lawrence School is really expensive for almost no homework some unjust regulations. Its size excludes children from real life problems, which is good for a time but later hinders them socially, leaving them exposed and unprepared for some if not most of life's more unforgiving attributes. The Schools highly structured learning system gives children time to acquire a complete understanding of the any of the topics taught in class. Standard classes such as Math are arranged in an easy-medium-standard model,. Although helpful for students who are not as adept in those areas, this does not really allow students to exceed past the more standard benchmarks of even public schools in areas that they aren't having trouble learning."
