"Ross is an excellent therapist for people that want to do the work, improve, and take action. After a few attempts at counseling I realized I was not the type of person who wanted to talk about my problems and simply have someone listen-- I wanted change. I was tired, scared, and completely confused in my first session with Ross, years ago. Maybe one of the biggest early signs that Ross was going to help me was in that first meeting he told me to write down what I wanted to achieve through counseling. He said it was so that we would know when we were done. Done.. like, we could end up being done?! Throughout the next year and a half Ross helped me make the changes in my life that I desperately needed. He understood when I was pushing too hard for change and would tell me to slow down. For example, I wanted to "fix" myself fast so I was reading books I was not really ready for. They intimidated me rather than motivated, and he suggested I stop. He also knew when to push me and would correct me when I was going down old worn paths that I was familiar with. Ross was capable of boosting my confidence in such a way that I started recognizing my own transformations. He was also consistent enough that I now have a little Ross in my head that helps me work through things despite not having seen him for a year. Beyond this, Ross is human. He explained aspects of his own life and history that helped me realize how important certain changes could be to developing the type of fruitful relationships I wanted to create in my world. Not viewing him as some sort of guru or higher power allowed me to not pursue "perfection" in my healing journey and realize I was working with someone who had had to do work himself-- as we all do. I will forever be thankful for his guidance and faith and for tuning me into ACA work which was key to developing the skills I needed to move forward with confidence. Thank you, Ross!
